Open Tabernacle follow-up

For those of you who asked, below is a photo from yesterday's opening.  I'm not sure how well you can make out the installation piece.  For an explanation of it, see my earlier post.

The show was awesome.  About 70 people showed -- the overwhleming majority of whom had never been to our space before and were not either church-goers or believers.  The reaction of visitors to the tabernacle was fascinating.  Almost no one "invaded" the space.  Even though there were no walls -- and even though the accompanying narrative clearly talked about the freedom we have to enter the Most Holy Place -- there was obviously some psychological taboo against stepping over the well-measured lines on the floor.  So it's not just OT ritual law that can keep us out of a space that we could otherwise enter.  We have plenty of our own hang-ups as it is!

Every so often, I would go up to people checking out the exhibit.  I would chat with them for a bit and then invite them to step in with me.  I know it sounds weird -- because the act only involved stepping over a bunch of yellow rulers lined up on the floor -- but there was something really exhilirating about stepping into the cube!  We would invariably smile and laugh and make some sort of exclamation.  Others would notice us, and also smile at the sight of our bold entry.  Nonetheless, the other onlookers would generally not enter the cube unless I specifically escorted them in.

Fascinating!

Anyway, I thank everyone in the community for their support.  Now let's see if any of the first-timers show up at service this morning!
