I'm in Florida this week, mostly to check on my Dad, who now lives in a nursing home. Most of the time, I'm not doing much, but I have made sure to check out a few of the local beaches.
That's my chair, looking lonesome.
A bit to the left of my chair was something I'd never seen before - a sea turtle nest, all protected with police tape and everything. It sure would be neat to come to the beach when all the hatchlings are making their way to the water!
I also always get a kick out of local wildlife. This little bunny, while not that exotic, has made an appearance every evening around 6:00, making my parents' yard his dinner.
And these three birds were strutting around the back yard, poking the ground for food.
There's one beach that's usually good for spotting dolphin as they come in at nightfall. When I went there, I saw no dolphin, but a couple of manatee popped their snouts out of the water enough times for me to finally get photographic proof!
Another beach is nicknamed the Sharks Tooth Capital of the World, because of all the teeth that wash up on the shore. The view there usually consists of lots of people's butts as they walk the shore crouched over looking for teeth. :)
When I was here last Christmas, I spent several afternoons there, and really came home with lots of shark teeth.
Last night, I stayed long enough to watch the sunset, and got a couple nice pictures of it.
