Dinner on the River

Last Friday I got to do something I've never done before - go on a dinner cruise on the Chicago River! A friend was turning 40, and her husband threw a surprise birthday party for her.

It was really fun. We were the only ones on the boat. There were about 60 of us, half that number made up of kids, who had a great time running around, going up and down the stairs, shrieking with joy. :)

The boat was docked just around the corner from the Renaissance Hotel, where the Hogsmeade Witches used as their home base while they were here. I have a number of pictures posted on my flickr account, besides the ones here.

Oh my gosh - is that Dixie doing a handstand in those glass cage things at the top of the Sears Tower!?

Hey look! It's the Renaissance! And Navy Pier! I think I see someone with a House tie, when I zoom in! The third pic here was taken from one of the windows downstairs of the boat. :)

I was wishing Geminiscorp was there with her mad photography skilz, because my camera can only do so much, between the motion of the ocean and the darkness of the... um... darkness. I took a number of dark pix with many squiggles in my quest to get a nice night cityscape. Maybe I'll buy one...
