The next days were equally painful and boring. Kazuya spent the whole day with his niece, playing and killing time while Jin mostly spent it with Yamapi and the guys.
“Ne Jin! Do you want to go to Shibuya?” asked Yamapi.
A vacation was probably what Jin really needed right now. He needed to get away from his thoughts for a while.
“Yeah sure,” answered Jin.
Yamapi then gave Jin the schedule telling him that they leave at 5pm that night. Jin packed his luggage and headed out.
Jin arrived earlier than the others. Traffic wasn’t as bad as he expected so he arrived at around 4pm. He decided to kill sometime by going to the nearest park.
“Kazu-nii, let’s go play!” Rie jumped up and down.
“Where do you wanna go Rie?” asked Kazuya.
Rie thought about it for a while and said, “PARK!”
Kazuya took his coat and went to the park with Rie. He couldn’t help but wonder what Jin was doing. He’s probably busy spending time with some of his friends.
As soon as they got to the park, Rie wanted to play hide and seek. The park wasn’t that big but Kazuya wasn’t familiar to the place which left him at a great disadvantage.
“Count to ten Kazu-nii! I’ll be hiding! No peeking! Loser gets a punishment!” giggled the small girl.
Kazuya closed his eyes and started counting, “I chi … Ni … San … Shi … Yon … Go … Roku … Nana … Hachi … Jyu … Kyu … Ready or not here I am Rie-chan!”
He started running and looking for the young girl. He looked behind the slide, under the benches, between the tables and every place noticeable for a child to hide but Rie wasn’t there.
Panic started to overcome Kazuya’s ability to think rationally and he kept on running until he found the other girl.
Jin had been quietly sitting by the corner when a small little girl bumped into him. The first instinct that he had was to check on the little girl whether she had been injured.
“Daijobu?” asked Jin.
The little girl smiled and placed a finger on her lips making a soft Shh sound. Her little fingers wrapped around Jin’s hand and pulled him to a slow run.
“Nii-chan, gomen ne! I’m playing hide and seek with my Kazu-nii and I don’t want to get caught yet!” says the small girl.
Jin looks at the small girl and smiles. This is the perfect thing to do to ease his boredom. He picks up the little girl and brought her to the car.
“Let’s stay here for a while okay? I’m sure he won’t look for you over here.” Jin smiled at the little girl and held out his hand for a small handshake.
“I’m Jin Akanishi. You can call me Jin-nii okay?”
The girl nodded and said, “I’m Odagiri Rie.” She took his hand and shook it lightly.
They stayed there for some time until Rie got really tired of the silence. Kazu-nii was probably worrying about her so she decided to go look for Kazuya too. First, she wanted ice cream.
“Ne Jin-nii, Can you buy me some Ice Cream?” She sweetly smiles at him.
“Eh? Ice cream? Okay then! I’m craving some myself.”
As soon as they got out of the car, Rie took Jin’s finger and wrapped his small hand around it. Jin looked at the small hand wrapped around his finger and smiled. She was like Kazuya, small, innocent and fragile.
They got to the nearby store and bought two ice creams, one for Jin and the other for Rie. Rie went out first and waited for Jin to pay for the ice cream.
“RIE!” shouted Kazuya. She finally saw him by the store holding an ice cream.
Rie turned around and saw Kazuya running towards her pulling her into a tight hug.
“Where did you go?! I was so worried about you!” Kazuya’s breathing was still hard from all the running.
“I wanted to hide well but then I bumped into this nii-chan and he told me to hide in his car but I got tired of waiting and we went for ice cream,” smiled Rie.
Kazuya listened to Rie’s explanation. He was really glad that Rie was safe. He thought something bad had happened to her.
“Nii-chan? Who?” asked Kazuya.
“He’s paying for Ice Cream now. He’ll be right out.” Rie pointed to the cashier inside the store.
Kazuya wanted to yell at the other guy for taking Rie not even being concerned about how he would feel if she suddenly disappeared. He pulled the door open but somebody pulled it open making him fall on the floor with the man under him.
Jin wanted to protest at the sudden weight of someone over him but as he moved to push the younger guy off him, their lips brushed together and he ended up kissing the guy.
For some reason Kazuya recognized those lips. He had only kissed one guy and the lips felt exactly the same, soft and inviting.
Kazuya quickly stood up as he recognized that it was Jin who was under him.
“Jin?!” shouted Kazuya.
Jin was dumbfounded. As he stood up, a familiar voice hit him. “KAZUYA!”
Kazuya looked at Rie who had her hand over her mouth. “Kazu-nii and Jin-nii kissed!”
Wide-eyed, Jin and Kazuya stared at Rie.
“It wasn’t like that! It was an accident!” Kazuya tried to reason out to Rie but she was too shocked to answer.
Kazuya looked at Jin and pushed him, “This is your fault!”
“Why is it my fault? You were at fault too!” answered back Jin.
Rie looked at both of her nii-chans arguing in front of her and laughed. Kazuya was startled by her sudden laugh.
“What’s so funny Rie-chan?” asked Kazuya.
Rie smiled at him and whispered, “Nandemonai.” (Nothing)
Kazuya looked at his watch and gasped as he saw the time, “Rie, we better get home. It’s getting late. Aunt Reika will get worried.”
Rie pulled Jin’s hand and willed him to come with them, “Jin-nii can you stay for dinner with us?”
“I don’t know Rie-chan. Ask Kazu-nii,” said Jin.
Looking at Kazuya, Rie made her best please face and said, “Pleaseee Nii-chan! Let’s have Jin-nii over for dinner.”
Kazuya looked at Rie then looked at Jin. He was defeated so he just nodded.
Jin gave Rie a high five then carried her and let Kazuya lead the way to the house. As soon as they got there, Kazuya opened the house to see her Aunt Reika.
“Aunt Reika, this is Jin Akanishi. He’s my friend from Tokyo. Do you mind if he stays for dinner?”
His Aunt reached over to give Jin a hug, “I don’t mind. Please enjoy yourselves. I’ve made a few extra dishes today.”
Jin smiled at politely thanked the older lady.
“Jin-nii, let’s go play in Kazu-nii’s room!” Rie grabs Jin’s finger and pulls him toward the room which was Kazuya’s.
Entering the room, Jin was quite happy. He thought about Kazuya all week and seeing him again was like a free time from those irritating thoughts of his. He would have wanted to meet Kazuya at a better situation but he liked their meeting quite well.
Rie didn’t know what kind of games Jin-nii wanted to play so she took out her stuffed animals. She took them to Jin-nii and held out her teddy bear to him.
“What game should we play Jin-nii?” asked Rie.
Jin took the teddy bear and tickled Rie.
Her cute laughter filled the room as Jin continued to tickle her. Unknown to him, Kazuya was looking at him through the door. He loved how cute and innocent Jin looked while playing with Rie.
“Kazuya, could you help me out here for a while?” asked Aunt Reika.
Kazuya silently closed the door and made his way over to Aunt Reika with a smile on his face.
“Rie-chan, Can you help me with something?” asked Jin.
Rie made his way over to Jin and sat down in front of him, “Of course! What can I do to help you Jin-nii?”
Jin leaned over and whispered something over to Rie’s ear which left her smiling and giggling.
“Do you get it Rie-chan?” Jin held out his teddy bear’s hand to Rie.
“Un!” answered Rie. She held out her teddy pig’s hand and shook Jin-nii’s teddy bear’s hand.
Laughing Rie stood up and went out the room. She went to the kitchen and pulled Kazu-nii inside the room where Jin was.
“Kazu-nii, can you stay with Jin-nii for a while?” Rie bit her lower lip and quickly made her way out of the room, locking the door from the outside.
Jin looked at the door as he heard the click of the door. He had told Rie to lock him up with Kazuya in a room telling her that he wanted to give something important to Kazuya and that no one else should know.
The younger lad stood up and tried to open the door but it wouldn’t open. His eyes widened as he tried to open the door again. “Yabe! Why is it locked?!”
Kazuya sat down on the bed far away from Jin. He didn’t know how to start a conversation. It had been quite some time since they last spoke to each other.
What should he say to Jin? ‘Hi Jin! We haven’t seen each other for a week and I’ve been thinking about you! I have these weird feelings and I think I like you but I can’t tell you because I’m afraid that you won’t mind me anymore so I ran away.’
Kazuya shrugged at his own thoughts. No way in hell would he tell Jin about them.
Jin waited for Kazuya to say something but seeing as how the younger guy couldn’t help biting his lower lip Jin decided to break the silence.
“How are you Kazuya?”
Kazuya flinched at the cold told Jin had. It was usually Kazu-chan right? Why did it suddenly become Kazuya?
“I’m fine.”
Jin nodded. The silence was deafening and it was really getting on Jin’s nerve. He stood up and sat beside Kazuya.
“Did I do something wrong Kazuya? Is that the reason why you’ve been avoiding me?”
Kazuya blushed as he felt the familiar warmth of Jin’s body radiate out of Jin and into him.
“I’m not avoiding you.”
He was really getting on Jin’s nerve.
How could you say you weren’t avoiding me?! I tried calling you but you never picked up! I tried mailing you but you never answered! Isn’t that avoiding?!
Jin didn’t know how to answer without shouting at Kazuya. The younger lad was seriously getting at his nerves now.
Kazuya didn’t know what to do when Jin suddenly stood up and moved to a far away corner.
“Jin,” said Kazuya. Now, he was the one to stand up and to move next to Jin. He had to admit that he missed the warmth of having Jin’s body beside him.
“Gomen,” whispered Kazuya. “I know that I should’ve at least told you what was wrong. I mean, I was the one who told you that we’re friends right? And how friends shouldn’t leave each other.”
Jin nodded. He didn’t trust his voice. If he spoke, he might just lose it and that was the last thing he needed right now.
“The thing is I left not because of my aunt or my mom. I left because I didn’t want to complicate things for us.”
Kazuya looked down as he continued, “I know that we’re friends but I feel things that aren’t just friendship. I have these feelings that I have to control if I want to make this friendship work.”
He looked over to Jin and found Jin looking down too.
It’s over Kazuya! You just ruined your friendship with him! Why’d you have to open that big mouth of yours and tell him all those things?! ~
Jin couldn’t believe his ears. Kazuya didn’t hate him? Kazuya didn’t hate him! He turned around and faced Kazuya. He didn’t know what to say so he gently placed his hand on Kazuya’s shoulder and kissed him.
It felt different than the other kisses they’ve shared. This kiss was more passionate. Jin started to deepen the kiss but a gentle knock on the door disturbed them.
Rie opened the door and saw Jin and Kazuya sitting beside each other. “Nii-chan, Okaasan says we have to go eat dinner.”
Kazuya nodded and followed Rie out the door but Jin’s hand stopped him.
“What?” asked Kazuya.
“Don’t avoid me again okay? Next time just tell me what the problem is. I was crazy all week trying to think about what went wrong and how you were. You could’ve at least answered my calls but past is past let’s not talk about it anymore.”
Jin made his way pass Kazuya and into the kitchen.
