[Though she really wanted to ask him about that, she refrained from doing so. Maybe he was high. Or somehow drunk. Not that she wanted to think about that. So, arming herself, she casually walked to his cabin, knocking once before opening it quickly and stepping inside. No, she did not respect his privacy. Ever.]
[Paddy was sat, quite calmly, on the end of his bed, sitting back on his hands, and giving Uhura a slight glance,] Afternoon.
[There was a slight pause before he answered her question,] I just want to do something, you know, useful. So... I was thinking I could try and help kids like Brian, y'know.
[Paddy shrugged and said, quite honestly,] He's a cokehead, you know. And I don't mean a sort of 'give them what they want' help, I mean helping them with withdrawal and shit. Because... [There's a deep breath here.] Well, I wouldn't have fucking made it out the other side of mine if it wasn't for a smack addict.
[Quite a bit of this was actually true, and was why he was looking out for Brian anyway. But this was also part of the 'be nice and see how long it takes for Uhura to get really pissed off' plan.]
But I know how to offer it in a way they'll take it. I'm not gonna force it on anyone who doesn't want it, I just... look, I don't want to do this on my own, I wanted some help, y'know. Already sorta look out for Brian anyway, yeah, so why the fuck not?
[Just knowing who they were, or what he could do for them would be a good start, and hell, the serious side of him was not exactly seeking approval, but support'd be damn well nice. Then again, he was just playing nice and seeing where it got him.]
[Uhura just shrugged and leaned back in her chair. He was asking her for help and, though she wasn't sure about it, she wasn't going to squelch this newfound...urge.]
Alright, Paddy. Alright. Who is Brian's warden? I'll have a talk with them about this. And I'll talk to the others, as well. [She was not the kind to do things on her own.]
[Paddy thought for a minute,] Think it's some kid called Adric. [He rubbed the back of his head,] Don't, y'know, make a big deal of it. Nobody wants a fucking big deal made of it, I just want to fucking help out.
[There was a long pause, as he realised something,] Don't fucking tell them I'm a junkie.
Well, I will help you in any way that I can. [Frankly, she was glad of this. She was suspicious, yes, but happy that he was trying. She glanced to the door before she looked back at him.]
But I will be to your room shortly.

You know yourself that they will not want your help.
