A trick I use for myself when I don't feel like going or if I feel like I might be too tired to go is the 20-minute rule. I will put out the effort to go to the gym, and if after 20 minutes of doing something I still don't feel like being there or I feel too tired, I will leave. I would say that about 75% of the time I will end up feeling better after 20 minutes and stay longer to do other things, but when that 25% happens, I leave and don't feel guilty about it. At least I got there, which is more than most people can say!
The treadmill is tough to keep yourself entertained. I usually watch the news, or do some people-watching, but I know that's not always an option. I listen to podcasts now instead of music because I got tired of my music competing with the gym's music (it used to be like a club at Sweat), and listening to the podcast can really get your mind off the monotony of watching the seconds tick by.
I agree with Mandy, if you haven't already done it, then sign up for something so you have something to get ready for that is ahead of you. Having a goal can help!
