checking in.

i maybe might have had a couple (of really light) beers at this point.  just feeling buzzy and chatty and saying hi.  i've been writing a follow-up piece to "there's more than corn in indiana" mostly because i found some unused material in an old notebook that made me chuckle, so i wanted to see if i could do anything with it.  i've got 3000 words of a piece i shoved into the season 3 timeline right after "bad day at black rock" and i don't hate it, so that's a good start.  needs a lift and a polish, though, which i hope to complete sometime during my VACATION next week.

boy, was that a long time coming.  i'm in no way going to say a have a job that is more stressful than anything ANYONE out there is doing, but it has its moments, and every three months or so i hit my shit-taking limit, and just need to be NOT IN THE RESTAURANT for a few days.  the problem is, we only get two weeks of vacay a year, so i've tried to take one every six months.  i'm lobbying for an extra day off every three months, or a policy that consists of a set number if vacation days we can take whenever, as opposed to two whole weeks.  i love my job, but DAMN, those people are annoying.  i now have a staff of 105 reporting to me, which means 105 people yapping my ear off about their issues every time they see me.  it's not always fun.  but i grin and bear it, and will continue to, because i'm really aiming to get another award this year, hopefully the one reserved for the top 1% of general managers in the country.  already bagged one for the top 10%, what up?

the kittehs would like me to say hi.  toast tried to jump up onto the desk and failed miserably.  miss kitty is napping on the bed right where i sleep, which is why i wake up every morning with cat hairs between my eyelids.  shenanigans is a shit.  end of story.

i think i'm getting a ring this year.  well, i more than think.  he's pretty much told me.  i got tickets to fenway for his birthday, so we're going to boston in september, which just happens to be our three-year anniversary, and i hate to jinx anything, but that would be awesome.  when we were in chi-town at the red sox/white sox, two couple got engaged on the big screen, and i know how his mind works.

enough rambling.  time for a refill!
