A little while ago, we all had to vacate the dorm because the fire alarm started sounding (only in our dorm). It wasn't until I reached the hallway that I saw smoke in our kitchen. Matt ran out of his room and opened the microwave, and with total disregard to his personal safety, grabbed the scorching, hot bowl with his bare hands and put it in the sink and ran cold water. He burnt his fingers by doing this and presently has 4 blisters forming on the fingertips. He was trying to cook some rice and the microwave burnt it to a crisp. Here is a picture, taken well after the incident:

It took about half an hour for the smoke to clear, and the smell of smoke is still present 2.5 hours later. While we were outside, the guy in the room diagonally from us opened the door and laughed at us. Later, three other people walked up the stairs and said, "Woa! Someone burnt something!"
