If you're not pleased with a situation, you can either change your actions or your expectations. I've been working on the expectations.

I was surprised by how readily I called -- my brother. I realized, though, that my opinion  of him hasn't changed, just my definition of "brother".

So, really, nothing is any clearer. But I feel really quite wonderful tonight. A little bit of thrill goes a long way.

Extended family is such a silly thing. The same woman who informed you that you'd lost an earring when you only had one ear pierced to begin with is the same woman who sends along tie-dye sheets with your parents when they come to visit you. Lose a few, win a few.

Natalie Goldberg saves my soul all over again. I've been itching to write freely like I did so well in 2005 so I finally got off my ass and took Writing Down the Bones with me to work on Thursday. And so far have written everyday. Go me!
