so, about 20 minutes of telephone interview with a recruiter for
corbis.
i am now officially wrung out. it's amazing what a short conversation can do to you if there's enough riding on it.
don't know if i explained previously. corbis was founded by bill gates about '98 or so. they are an image library--a kind of glorified version of the clip art files that come with some word processing or layout programs. by glorified, i mean this is an expensive and highly technical version meant for newspapers, magazines, the title cards shown behind the anchor of your evening news program, ad agencies, web commerce and so forth. they have exclusive rights to tons of high resolution images, including the Andy Warhol Foundation, Ansel Adams, Douglas Kirkland, Marvel Enterprises, The
National Gallery-London, etc. i would handle some of the corporate communications for the same.
have to get through the phoner before they'll even pass your resume on to a hiring manager. i've managed that much, the recruiter confirmed. she says i should hear more within a week if they want an interview.
...like any baseball player can tell you, it's a long season--you can't get too up or too down. i've always considered that sound wisdom in a larger way but--when you're bipolar--it's so much more than that....
...so, now, i will read. i've got a good stephen king and will diappear into it for a while. i can relax 'cause i also got two resumes out to good opportunities today and made progress on my article. tomorrow, i will see about getting w-2 forms for potential financial aid. but today?
"today, my jurisdiction ends here." [geek credit for the first correct dialog identification....]
