Happy long weekend everyone!
Tonight I have enjoyed myself a little too much just staying in, drinking birthday wine and playing tetris on the N64. I don't claim to be very good at... well anything, but in tetris i've got some skill. Perhaps my enjoying tonight has come from a cd I just burned for camping this weekend. It was my first mix cd in many months and coudl be the best. Though this could just be because it's filled of songs and bands i've been digging lately. It has a little bit of everything have a look
1. Guided by Voices - I am a Tree (this band has been my flavour of the week)
2. Gnarls Barkley - Crazy (Apparently this song has been big for a while, but i've just heard it)
3. Yo La Tengo - Stockholm Syndrome
4. Belle and Sebastian - Lazy Line Painter Jane
5. Lou Reed - Make Up
6. Ambulance LTD - Anecdote
7. Guided By Voices - Echos Myron
8. Islands - Volcanoes
9. Daft Punk - Something About Us
10. Notorious B.I.G. - Gimme The Loot
11. Depeche Mode - World in my Eyes
12. Bruce Springsteen - Born in the U.S.A
13. Heart - Srait on for you
14. David Bowie - It's No Game (Part 2)
15. Elvis Costello - Riot Act
16. Pixies - There Goes My Gun (Live at Reading 1989)
17. ELO - One Summer Dream
18. Guided By Voices - Awful Bliss
19. Nick Cave - Into My Arms
I have decided to go camping this weekend, but only for Sunday and Monday. The entire city seems to be camping along the Mackenzie or Hay River this weekend and I was starting to feel a bit left out. Also this will give me the first chance to get out into the Territory and see what it is like. I am looking forward to taking pictures of Bison along one section of the highway and seeing black bears (from a safe distance).
The past week at work has been better. I've started to work for a project manager named Gary (environmental engineer) instead of the head planner Nalini (who I think hates me). He has given me some small projects to do here and there which is nice but so far no actual field work is planned. Though at a meeting today he did say that I might be tilling contaminated soil this summer at a land farm near Inuvik (On the Mackenzie Delta near the Artic Ocean) on top of the other work at the Colomac mine (an abondoned gold mine). I wish these engineers would actually plan the field work trips some what in advance, I want something to look forward too.
I received a phone call from the Region of Comox-Strathcona today about a job I applied for when I though I was unemployed. The Region is located half on Vancouver Island and half on the Mainland which is weird. I did set up a phone interview even though I doubt anything will come of it. It was nice to know that I was 'short listed' for a position, it gives me hope for working in Ontario.
What the fuck am I doing in Yellowknife!
My parents sent me a super nice digital camera for my birthday. Which means I can post more pictures (lonely) on LJ. I call this one me and my bathroom window that needs cleaning.
