just in case there wasn't *enough* reason to hate Sarah Palin and her policies

Gee, I wonder why I haven't seen anything about *this*You know, nine years ago, I went to a Bat-Mitzvah in New York where the Rabbi said in his sermon, "It used to be Jews who won prizes and awards. What happened? Now it's people with names like Chang and Wong ( Read more... )

There is nothing more disgusting than Jews for Jesus.

And of course it won't be in the mainstream media. All Jews are democrats, aren't we?

Btw, hi, love, I miss you. I'm sorry I'm being a fruitcake.

Jews for Jesus make me want to *scream*. But not as much as Sarah Palin and her fucked up views on *everything I believe in* do.

Remember when Salon had that article about formerly Democratic Jews in Miami who were voting for McCain (because they were seekritly really racist)? Remember how they worded it around if "The Jews" were bad for certain politicians instead of wondering if certain politicians were bad for us (because who cares about *that*)? Argh!

Oh, yeah, I was thinking of that article. God, grossness abounding.

And yeah, I am sick to death about some of the crap I've been seeing regarding Palin after only one week, but my god, that woman is like the antithesis of everything I want in a politician. Just. God, she's scary. Because she can do more single-handedly than McCain himself can.

It's really pissing me off that, "hates abortion on all fronts" is enough reason to get the entire right behind her. Yeah, because qualifications really don't matter at all! She loooooooves the fetus! That's all they need!

Now I'm really curious about what other shit has been said in that church. Cause I'm betting this isn't the worst of it.

Probably not, and ew, and ew, and ew again.

I didn't think it could get any worse than her being a young-earth-creationist, Alaskan-separatist, but obvs I was wrong.

Yeah, now we have to add on supporting horrible racist and repulsive statements about how innocent Jews deserve death, wanting to ban books, wanting to shoot wolves from helicopters, wanting to kill polar bears, refusing to give interviews or answer any media questions about how she's *lying* in her speech, and so many other things I've lost count.

This woman is *batshit crazy* and I'm *horrified* that anybody who calls themselves a moderate can consider supporting her for a *second*.

This nomination is nothing more than a big sloppy wet kiss to the evangelical base. Lieberman (and his apparent case of massive self-loathing) notwithstanding, maybe it will finally put paid to any notion Jewish voters have of voting for McCain... And can you imagine the howls of outrage from the rightwing if we'd nominated someone with ties to a separatist organization, or someone whose daughter was pregnant at 17?

(And on another subject, are you around next Thursday?)

Dude, what is *up* with Lieberman? How can he even be willing to sit in the same room as Pat Buchanan? How can he be okay with being paraded around as a symbol that the right likes Jews after all? OMG I DON'T WANT HIM IN MY TRIBE ANYMORE!

Sadly, the rest of that article is about how her local Rabbis like her and support her and everybody is convinced she's a friend of Israel (yeah, she's a friend because all of the Jews in the world need to go back there so the Messiah can come. I'm kind of willing to bet that if she has her way, she's going to be doing a *lot* to make sure we actually go). Just like hatred of abortion is enough for most right-wingers, support of Israel is enough for a lot of Jews. I just wish they'd take the time to realize that just *saying* things doesn't mean they're true.

Are you coming to visit? That'd be *awesome*!

I just wish they'd take the time to realize that just *saying* things doesn't mean they're true.

And spend a little time thinking about who's doing the saying. I mean, the Dominionists are the ones on the evangelical side supporting Israel because they are waiting for Armageddon, as you said. They're off breeding red cows now so they are *ready* when it comes... These are not people you want supporting your side.

Lieberman, I think, was so cheesed at losing his primary, and so anxious to be vice president, that when Wolfram and Hart the GOP seemed to be offering him a shot at the ticket he took it. Now, of course, his signature is there in blood and so he's got to follow people quoting scripture onto a stage in front of an audience that's not entirely convinced he *doesn't* drink the blood of christians. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy...

Are you coming to visitDriving down Thursday afternoon for a cocktail party & visit to the mothership the following day. Email me (tesserae4405 at yahoo.com) if you'd like to get together - ( ... )

I think Lieberman wants power to the point where he'll do anything to get it. And I think he thinks all Jews will support any Jew in power, just like the McCain campaign thinks all women will support any woman with power. And fuck that; I'd be *thrilled* to have an awesome Jew or woman in power (or a Jewish woman!), but, sorry, just the fact that you *are* one isn't some sort of free pass.

For a lot of elderly Jews, the support for Israel is what matters most. It doesn't matter why the support is happening - it only matters that it *is* happening. Add in that the other candidate is Black, and that's kind of all she wrote. It sucks beyond words.

The mothership? Emailing now!

Ironically, I was just thinking about this last night - about how everybody who wants this to become a Christian nation is going to deal with the reality that there are Jews (and other religions living here), because if that ever happens, I'm betting this is quickly going to become the kind of place I'm not willing to live in.

And no, it doesn't remotely surprise me either. I'm just disappointed that we've gotten to the point where people are willing to be so blatant about it, and that the majority of the public now considers this kind of shit to be acceptable.

I'm so fucking sick of being the frog in boiling water.

“Once she’s had a chance to make her positions clear on these issues, the Jewish community is going to be very, very comfortable with her.”

No, Mr. Goldfarb, you don't speak for all of "us" and I am never, ever going to be comfortable with her.

And the news that Lieberman is shopping her around to AIPAC? Well, I'd like to think that he's doing this for the good of Israel - cementing relationships with those who might make future policy and decisions, but I'm afraid he's doing it solely for McCain/Palin advancement.

Even if every single other bit of her politics meshed with mine, this is a deal breaker. A 100% forever deal breaker.

Not that it matters, because I literally can't think of a *single thing* about her where we'd agree.

I really don't know *what* is up with Lieberman. Doesn't he have any shame? Can he really not realize what he's doing to the community and religion he professes to be so proud of?

And I'm so sick of having politicians who support Israel for the *wrong reasons*. I want them to support Israel because Israel deserves to exist and because it's awesome that it does - *not* because the fact that without an Israel, there's no Messiah for them. Way to *once again* prove how selfish and self-centered you are!

What are you, some kind of forward thinker? You want the ways and means to be in alignment?!

/teasing.

And Lieberman....Oy-frigging-vey. I have friend who knows his wife quite well. Wouldn't it be great if privately she's saying to him, "What the FUCK are you thinking/doing, Joseph!" I can ask my friend to ask her. lol
