Ah!

Today, June 8th, 2005, at the end of the day, will be a wonderful day. After watching Lexi for the past three days in a row and two other kids, age 1 1/2 & 4, for the past week, at 9:30 tonight their dad will pick them up and I will be "other peoples kids" childless. At least for the next two days. I won't see Lexi for another week and a half. I only have about three or so days left for the other two and their mom will be off bedrest. We will see how long after that it will take her to go into labor. Being on the maximum amount of medication seems to indicate to me that see will probably go soon after her last dose. I am really praying that I could get at least a two or three day vacation before she goes because after that I will be watching them 24 hours per day for two or three days while she is in the hospital and of course he will be with her at least the first day or so. Not sure how many days off of work he is going to take or how much help they will need. I just know that I will be glad when this is all over and she is back to watching all three of their kids!

Today is raining and actually cold. I had to turn on the living room heaters. Thus goes the Pacific Northwest. Summer will come back to us someday soon. My husband surprised me for my 38th birthday. He took the day off and played Mr. Mom. It was wonderful considering that it was one of the days that we had all six kids, our three plus the others I watch. He served me breakfast in bed, allowed me to sleep in while he got up and welcomed Lexi at 6:45 A.M.! He made breakfast for the kids, cleaned up, made them lunch, cleaned up and would have made dinner except that I wanted something a little fancy so he needed my help. But he did clean up after we all ate. He also made, by himself, my birthday cake. Then he continued to surprise me by giving me a new stone cutting board. My old one broke after almost 12 years of marriage and I sorely missed it. The new one is prettier and lighter. The one drawback is that it won't fit in the dishwasher. Oh well, can't have everything. The end of this great day was that after helping to get all five kids ready for bed he shooed me into the bathroom so I could take a bubble bath! Music, food and mind numbing clothes catalogs. Really hot water, scented and colored, and NO KIDS! It was wonderful. I really love my husband!

We have finally gotten word about our house. According to all the "higher ups" we are supposed to start with the foundations this Saturday! It will be work, work, work, work after that. For nine or so straight months. They are still looking for a construction supervisor, the last one couldn't handle the position and quit, but they are in the interviewing process. It still seems like a dream that in nine months we could be moving into our own home. I just hope that we will still be friends with our neighbors by that time. It could be ugly moving into your home, knowing that you don't get along with other people in the neighborhood. We will just have to work hard on our people skills and hope others do the same.

School is over! I love these months during the summer. Time off and time away from the daily grind translates into becoming rejuvenated and hyped for the next school year. Of course it always helps to get the next years curriculum materials, which we haven't yet. For some reason Abeka couldn't get our order straight and I played phone tag with about four of their customer representatives. By the fourth one the had finally gotten it straightened out, without talking to me, and had sent us the order. We have received a notice from UPS that our boxes are on their way. I am going to go over this order with a fine tooth comb to make sure they got everything straight. But, it is always nice to put the old year away and get the next year set up. And I have the added challenge of Abigail this year. She is excited about starting pre-school. I am going to be sneaky and have Christopher help her in areas that he knows but is struggling to remember. I am also going to have Life Classes this summer. I am going to do my best to make them fun but HA HA! What the kids don't know is that when they have acquired all these new founds skills is that I am going to make them use them. We will see how all this works out. I have high hopes..... for now.
