Someone said to me recently that Jesus said to obey the laws of the land. This person is against illegal immigration. I'm not for it, but I understand our system is broken and many poor and suffering people come here to feed their family. I don't consider these people to be criminals. I pointed out that when slavery was legal, harboring a runaway slave was a crime. What's best? Obey the laws of the land and close your door or do what Jesus did, and feed and clothe this person? What about missionaries in China that teach people about Jesus? This is breaking the law. My observation is this: God is love, has always been love. The Law Of Love if you will, should always reign supreme to everything. The laws created by men can sometimes be good, but sometimes they are cruel and cold. A lot of Christians struggle with this. I don't and I'm a Christian. It's simple for me. Laws created by man are secondary to the law of love. There's a group of people called border angels that set up stations along the US and Mexican border. These stations consist of flashing lights and water. Many people have died of dehydration crossing the border. I'm sure in some way, these people are breaking a law by "assisting" an illegal immigrant in their cross over here.
What do you think?
BTW, I'll be at the May 1st immigration rally again this year. This time, my sign will read " Would Jesus Build A Wall To Keep Out The Poor And Suffering?"
