Last night i saw Ladder 49 with Tracie, Vic, Chani, John V, and some friend of Johns named Tom...it was deffinitely one of the saddest movies i've seen! :(. i didn't think it would have such a sad ending, but thats one of the rare times i've actually cried during a movie (in theaters at least). then today i went shoppin with syd and mer and we saw

stem-cell research=he passed a ban on federal funding of new stem cell research lines. this means that scientists and doctors cannot commence any new lines of research.
now, about kerry being 'wishy-washy'... aka, changing his mind about the iraq war? i'm sorry, this is possibly THE WORST argument i have ever heard. i don't see how people cannot comprehend how someone can be against something (the war) and totally not want to go into it, but then say that we need to finish it. if you are forced into something, you might as well do it right. maybe some people have a piss-poor work ethic, but if someone else makes a decision that greatly affects you, and you don't have a choice in the matter, you might as well do a damn good job of finishing it up. that's all kerry is saying, that although he might not have wanted to go to war with iraq in the first place, he wants to do a good job finishing it up; he's not just going to abandon everything if he becomes president, because obviously the public would not support that.
i don't know how i am going to vote in the upcoming election. however, i do know that it is something that i have to research, reading up on the candidates and such, rather than just blindly accepting facts that the government, or parents, or friends, give me. and i know that i want to vote for a president who has the best interests of the people in mind, not merely the top 10% on the socioeconomic scale.

Bush isnt for banning stem cell research, hes against funding it. Theres a differince.
Kerry has said:
"We should not have gone to war knowing the information that we know today," - Good Morning America (Sep. 29 04 if I remember right)
"I agree completely with this Administration’s goal of a regime change in Iraq ..." - Speech To The 2002 DLC National Conversation, New York, NY, 7/29/02
"George, I said at the time I would have preferred if we had given diplomacy a greater opportunity, but I think it was the right decision to disarm Saddam Hussein, and when the President made the decision, I supported him, and I support the fact that we did disarm him." (ABC News Democrat Presidential Candidates Debate, Columbia, SC, 5/3/03)
I hate to sound arrogant, but im sure I know far more about politics than either of you.
Ill ignore the jibe about republicans not caring, and just hope you someday take a decent history class.

And Brian's (binarypunsisher) points on John Kerry's positions still hold significant ground. So far, I have yet to hear a decent case that John Kerry is not a flip-flopper.
"Yes, I would have voted for the authority. I believe it's the right authority for a president to have. But I would have used that authority as I have said throughout this campaign, effectively."
August 9, 2004
Now contrast that to his September 29th remark. The reason why your friends need not copy and paste Bush's quotes to understand his opinion is because he is consistent. Meanwhile, Kerry's rhetoric, and I dare say, opinion on issues is malleable.
