GB: Work

Money is what moves the world, the galaxy and the universe. In order for you to live, you need money or at least you need someone who will either give it to you or give you things that cost money. In order to rebuild your world, you’ll need a lot of it, and no one will be kind enough to pay it for you.

When you first arrive on the Thor, you are given a small amount of credits and this amount comes to you monthly, even if you don’t work. It’s called the Minimum Wage. You can, however, get promoted and access other kinds of wage. The wages are: Minimum Wage, Somewhat Decent Wage, College Degree Wage, CEO Wage, and Inherited From Dead Rich Aunt Wage.

When you start working, you must start at the basis. The system will not allow you to subscribe to jobs that don’t correspond to your current wage. You need to properly finish the base mission and depending on how well that goes, you will get promoted, earn more money, and have more freedom.

As you go, missions will be separated into tiers, and, based on how well you have done, you’ll be promoted a tier and be able to go on harder missions. Harder missions means higher wages.

In order to subscribe to these missions, you’ll have to fill your name and room under the respective slot. There will be a bulletin posted on a screen in your cabin at the beginning of every month with a list of what's available. The jobs or missions are divided into sections based on career paths. There will be an open number of slots for each job which you can sign up for on a first come, first serve basis.

You can subscribe to more than one job, and of course, raise your wage quicker. If you like to work 24 hours a day, you can even try that.
At the end of the month you’ll be getting your money. Only at the end. That is, if you do your job well.

It is to note how glitchy this whole system is. It’s not uncommon for you to sign up for something and later on fund out you were placed somewhere else. Or some of your friends decided it’d be a nice prank. If your name is there, do the job, or you might lose the Wage you currently have by rejecting a job.

Usually theses jobs are offered either by Thor’s citizens or by the Planet’s citizens. Since each month we visit a different planet, each month you have to sign up for a new mission and you don’t keep your job permanently.
Anyone can take these jobs, be it citizens or refugees.

Alternatively, you can directly go to an enterprise or association and ask to be permanently employed by them. Remember that Tor’s leaves the planet at the end of the world, so these enterprises MUST be on the Thor.

There is also the chance for the refugees open their own working place and hire citizens or refugees (usually refugees since Citizens rarely allow themselves to work for a refugee). In order to go freelance WITH a working place, you must contact the Vogon’s office, fill hundreds of useless forms and have money (if you don’t have a working place, this isn’t needed). If you are looking to hire someone else, do contact the Employment center, so at the beginning of each month, the job openings will be added to the community bulletin. If you don’t wish to go through bureaucratic means, do it on the guide, but realize you might not have anyone signing up for the job.
