I thought of many characters... everyone from Locke to Laguna. Overall, I'm not entirely confident with this vote, but I agree with Vivi. You placed a pretty high emphasis on humor, and many of the characters with follower personalities don't have much of a sense of humor... at least Vivi would be willing to give it a chance and does show aspects of humor from time to time. He'd also be more likely to protect his home (if he truly had one), is the type to have a few close friends instead of a lot of distant ones, and if he got mixed up on "the wrong side," he would indeed be very confused and conflicted about it. Unless all of the guards happened to be small black mages, it would be difficult for him to stealthily help you escape that part made me think of many thief and pirate type characters, but he fits everything else just about perfectly. He's also trusting, loyal, would never let a rivalry get to extremes, is respectful of he opinions of others, and I can really see him agreeing with your idea of friendship. Overall, I think he'd respect you and you'd be good for him all the while he'd balance out some of your traits to even it up.
