For the last few days, I’ve been taking Alex on bike rides through the park. Instead of going to the play structures or staying on the path, we go into the middle of the field to blow bubbles or throw a ball. Being an extrovert who doesn’t yet understand personal space (let alone social distancing) he runs up to strangers and stands far too close while he talks to them, even under normal circumstances. So, this way when he sees other people walk by and makes a beeline for them, I have a chance to catch him. We’ve been working on friendly greetings and waves from a distance. We need more work.
Aaron fixed our furnace after a week of trying to diagnose the problem and hotwiring it to come on to warm the house temporarily. Next up: the dishwasher.
It’s been a week and a half since we’ve done any socializing and Sunday was a full week since I’ve gone anywhere other than for a run or bike ride with Alex. I haven’t been to any stores, but I’m in several city specific Facebook groups and have seen the pictures of the lines to get in and the meager offerings inside. I signed up for a fresh produce box delivery. I still have a pretty well stocked pantry of dry goods so we seem to be set for now.
Alex and I made some edible Jell-O slime last night, which was not as awesome as I’d hoped. Alex humored me, but he’s not especially fond of having anything sticky or messy on his hands. It turns out that this was pretty much exactly like the ooblek (cornstarch and water recipe) but just with sugar and gelatin added. Other than the taste, it didn’t do anything and Alex didn’t care much for the taste either. Oh well. Hopefully tomorrow’s activity will be more of a hit.
