Alex went to his first mommy and me Sign and Sing class today. I thought he would enjoy it because he always seems interested in interacting with other kids his age and he knows and uses quite a few ASL signs. In the entire 45 minute class, the only sign he used was all done as he headed for the door. He did this multiple times, followed by screaming and flopping when I brought him back to the circle. The class was very age appropriate and loosely structured enough to entertain the other kids his age. Meanwhile, I was trying to follow along with 25 pounds of weight alternating between dead and flailing.
Alex is a sweet and cooperative kid as long as he's doing exactly what he wants on his time table.
Despite what I'm sure we looked like, it was good for both of us to get out. Driving, especially to a new place, was outside my comfort zone, but I felt somewhat accomplished once we were back home.
Since Alex grabs phones and cameras any time he sees them out, the days of being able to take little snapshots of our day are over. Here's a recent picture when he was caught off guard.
