Family Tree

Dec 21, 2010 11:54

So I was up til 4:30am this morning, doing family tree research....

Turns out I can trace my way back to my 13th great grandfather in Norfolk County, England. His son, my 12th great grandfather, was born in 1524, so I'm gonna take a stab and say that my 13th ggrandpapa (edmund!) was born very late 1400's to early 1500's.

How awesome is that?!

That's so awesome! We can only get back to one relative in the seventeenth century. So jealous you can go back so far!

Yeah I'm pretty stoaked too! Apparently, I don't think I'll get much further back than what I have because Parish records were destroyed during the reign of Henry the 8th. Something to do with the church reformation (breaking away from rome) but hey, im not fussed, it's supposedly nearly impossible to get anything back before 1530.

That's still awesome. I think ours don't go back any farther because of fires, too, but I don't remember the reason for the fires.

I can get back to the 1300s... Apparently the black death didn't kill any of my family :D

Ahhh that is amazing!!! One of my cousins in England did some family tree work, and sent me a CD of it but I haven't looked at it yet. I'd love to look into my mum's side of the family since our ancestors are apparently from 1800's Germany. :)
