1. Haven't done a blanket Pokemon Go update in a while, with my lists and everything. I think my last one was late October? (Not really a surprise that I got derailed in early November, ahem.) Here's an update!
In the last nest migration, the park by my house got a Squirtle nest, and I love it. It's not only helping encourage me to go out, but it's encouraging me to stay out. No easy feat, considering today's the first day of winter and it's been in the 30s F most days this week.
Catches for Pokemon I need to evolve in general have been pretty good. Just going out shopping or to eat in the areas closest to my house help with things like the Nidorans and the occasional Omanyte. I also haven't been feeling quite as much like my Pokeballs are limited, so I guess a night downtown last week combined with better drops has been helping? Probably that I'm being selective with my catches and staying out longer on my daily walk helps, too.
Some stats:
-As of January 6th, I'll have been playing the game half a year.
-I crossed the million XP mark a few days ago!
-I'm over halfway through level 26.
-Pokedex has 121 caught Pokemon types. Getting there! I've caught 2682 total, evolved 369, and hatched 106.
-New-to-me Pokemon ready to evolve: Slowbro and Starme (well, the latter in 1.3 km, so probably after tomorrow's walk).
-I've visited nearly 3k Pokestops and walked 376.5 km.
-Only won 32 gym battles/trained 30 times, but I live near few accessible gyms anymore, and it's usually easier for me to stick a Pokemon in an already-red gym for coins.
-The types of Pokemon I haven't maxed out medals/bonuses on are electric (68/200), psychic (149/200), ghost (49/50 and 200), steel (38/50 and 200), fairy (25/50 and 200), ice (4/10, 50, and 200), and dragon (2/10, 50, 200). I've maxed out normal, fighting, flying, poison, ground, rock, bug, fire, water, and grass.
And then, of course, there's my list of Pokemon to walk! I'm making good progress, and I should be ready to evolve maybe one more (besides the Starme) before New Year's? And then I'm going on a trip, so that should help, too. It'll be a lot easier to walk longer distances once spring rolls around. Just have to hang in there.

(*I mean, I need a Santa Raichu!)
2. Today's the first day of winter (or summer, if you're on the other side of the Equator). Longest night of the year! Sunset locally is at 4:38 pm. Not as dark as it could be, thankfully - parts of Alaska go completely dark for days this time of year, for instance - but dark enough. I've been getting up later than I'd like, and it means I see a couple hours of sunlight. One reason I take daily walks is to get some sunlight.
It's really rainy outside right now. It's been like that the last week or so: warmish for a day or so, lots of rain, switch to snow for a second. Current forecasts are saying some snow on Christmas Eve, which means maybe it'll be a bit white on the 25th.
3. How is everyone doing? What are your plans for the rest of the year? Only eleven days left (by the common solar calendar, anyway).
