I'm less pissed off now. I think I have food poisioning, but my day went pretty well. Note to self: do not eat the crusty hot dogs they serve at school.
Why am I less pissed off you ask?
Apparently I am a hot commodity - career wise anyways!
Last week I applied for a job at an IT (Intellectual Property) firm, and they called me in for an interview the next day! Today was the interview. I almost called to reschedule, but I put on my happy face and went anways. Sooooo glad I did!
The interview: After walking into their beautiful office on the Esplanade, I was greeted by the managing partners labrador retriver. So cute! Apparently the building is "dog friendly" and the firm encourages people to bring their dogs to the office! The interview itself was unusual, but in a good way. The interviewer was really nice and raved about my resume, which I loved. I do have an amazing resume. She didn't really ask much about my experience, which makes sense because that's what the resume is for, but she asked why I was interested in IP, how school was going... She even gave me some websites where I could look into IP and what kinds of things I would be doing. It was neat, because she was interviewing me like I already had the job, and in fact, she offered it to me! The firm knows that my college is on strike too, and is willing to adjust my start date to whenever I graduate... and may offer me some temp work during the strike so I can get some experience and help out a bit.
I love that they offer a comprehensive training program in intellectual property, and were looking specifically for a new grad to teach the ropes. Not to mention, the starting salary is more than what I expected!
Its a smaller firm, with about 20 people working there, but they're all women! Go figure. At least I know I'm hireable!
Anyways, I have another interview tomorrow with a firm that does mostly franchises. This one I didn't apply to - they saw my resume on workopolis and called me in.
Yay me.
Now, I just need to get un-sick, finish school and have some free time, and all will be fine!
