When Chloe woke up, she was in her bed, her memory hazy for a few seconds, it looked kind of dark outside, but it didn't sound like it was early in the morning, the traffic in the distance outside, it sounded more like rush hour than anything else ( Read more... )

Oliver looked up from where he was sitting on the sofa, his laptop resting on his knees as he worked silently, barely paying attention to the news report that was on. He heard the sound of light foot-fall in the hallway and he glanced up quickly. "Hey. Did I wake you?" he asked uncertainly, picking up the TV remote and turning the TV down a little more, a frown on his face.

She looked from the TV to the to him, rubbing her face a little and shaking her head, "no, I don't think so," she looked around and made a face, "did I sleep all day?"

"Pretty much," he agreed, sensing her mood wasn't good and that that affirmation wouldn't make it any better. Inwardly he shrugged. One day of missing work wouldn't end her career.

With a nod, she turned around and walked to the kitchen, picking up the phone and calling the Planet, she got an answering machine so she left a message to her editor, telling him what happened briefly before hanging up and walking over to the coffee maker, setting it up then starting it before leaning back against the counter to wait.

She didn't like missing work and she knew she wasn't going to get in trouble for it, but the problem was that this all had happened because she had been incredibly stupid and inpatient, if she had just waited a couple more hours, Lex would never have found out about anything and her research would have been safe, by now, everything she found had probably been wiped off of his networks.

Taking it, she met his eyes and nodded, "thanks, Oliver, for everything. You really didn't have to do any of this."

His eyebrows furrowed a little and he shook his head. "Do any of what?" he asked uncertainly. He didn't really feel like he'd done anything, frankly.

"Well, flying in for starters," she raised her eyebrows at him, "then spending the night with me, driving me home, taking care of my prescription... all of it."

"Oh." He smiled a little and shrugged. "Well, you're my friend, and one of my teammates. Needed to make sure you were all right."

All she could do was stare at him, she had absolutely no idea he had been through that and things like that just made her realize how little she knew about him and how much more she wanted to know, "and you were stuck there for two years? Were there people in that island?"

He nodded a little. "Yeah. It's uh...actually where I picked up my archery hobby. Some of the people that lived there taught me. I got a lot of practice," he admitted. "Food was kind of short." He leaned against the counter, coffee mug cradled in his hands. "Pineapples, fish, and the occasional wild boar. Needless to say, I'm not a big fan of pineapples, sea food, or ham anymore."

She knew he meant for it to be funny, but she was so intrigued by the whole thing, she didn't laugh, instead, she stepped closer unconsciously, "how did you get out? What kind of people were there?" So many questions, but she knew she had to ask them little by little if she wanted to get answers to all of them.

Oliver took a drink of his coffee and then set it down on the counter. "Well the island natives were great. Pretty much saved my life," he told her. "But when the drug runners showed up..." His voice trailed off, his eyes going distant for a moment. "I got off the island on their ship."

He nodded a little in acknowledgement, taking a sip of the coffee. "I have," he agreed quietly.

"Do you think you'll ever get tired of it?" She leaned her side against the counter, resting her arm on it as she looked up at him. Oliver was human, after all.

A smile flickered over his lips. "Honestly?" He glanced up at her. "Not a chance."

"Yeah?" She grinned softly and shrugged a shoulder, hopping up on the counter and sitting next to him, "what if you decide that one day you wanna get married and have kids?"

She rolled her eyes a little and grinned, "please, I think you're getting old, I haven't seen you partying since we started talking more often."

"Old? Ouch. Harsh, Sidekick." He frowned a little, even though it was mostly mocking. Mostly.

"And that's because you keep me in line."

She smiled at him and shook her head, "hardly, I would actually go with you if you wanted me too, of course that could getting the way of you actually getting any, but I could also play wingman."

He raised his eyebrows at her. If she only knew how long it had been since he'd gotten any.

"Wingman?" he echoed, amused.
