"Dresses first," she decided firmly. "And if they look stupid and don't fit, then we can make ourselves feel better with shoes." Since they always fit and never looked stupid. Painful sometimes, but never stupid.

Chloe started towards the dress shop, "being a Queen and all, I'm sure Ollie will drag you to company events sooner or later," she said in a lower voice as they walked.

"God, I hope not," she said. "If he tries, I'm totally spiking the punch bowl. I'm not cut out for fancy parties where everyone is stuck up and self-important."
She followed Chloe into the dress shop and gravitated immediately towards the shorter dresses.

"You're just not used to the style," Chloe said, gently reaching for Mia's ponytail and and pulling the elastic band from it, adjusting Mia's hair over her shoulders, she looked so much gentler than usual, younger, lighter, how a seventeen year old should be, "I think it's great."
