hey guys, im in the middle of writing a novel, but all my ideas seem to turn out like stories/books that have already been published out,i dont know it just seems that way to me, like im not coming up with anything origional and im like scraed that its going to be copyrighted and stuff you know if its the same, its just really getting me down, i

If you're not already, I'd try listening to Mur Lafferty's "I Should Be Writting" podcast. She has a lot of great tips about writing. She said something great that I think you'll like: Everything's been done before. What makes stories different is how you tell them. It helped me when I was feeling the exact same way as you. (Down to the wanting to write about vampires and the love for Stephanie Meyer ;D)

lol! i LOVE stephanie's books, i mean they are so great, but i just feel like if i do a vampire love story about a girl finding out, it will be just the same, you know, same if i were to substitute the vamp with another supernatural being lol, it would lead back to twilight. it just sort of kinda makes me down that i cant come up with an origional idea. but thanks im off to download the podcast now and be sure to listen to it. thanks for that. lol i know that im not gonna make a bestseller on my first try but iv been writing this story about a vamp love story for some time now and i dont know i guuess iv lost all inspiration.

but thankyou for the advice. i was wondering do you know anything about how to copyright your work and agents and publishing. if yes any info would be great.

It depends on what I'm writing. Usually it comes to me in bits and pieces. My Father's and Son's Series was inspired by the ups and downs of my experience at my daycare center. I spun it into two young dads who cope with there seemingly weird kid.

I once had an entire scene concocted while walking the 20 blocks to work.

It literally can come from no where, and while I'm away from the computer too. Ain't that something, so i have to hope i can jot down enough details so i can remember it later on.

maybe stepping away from the comp and going for a walk is the first step to finding inspiration. The air gives the brain some clarity, as weird as it sounds, lol.

lol thanks i'll try the walk. lots of wierd ideas come to me actually when im reading amazing stories, lol ways that they could be expanded and stuff, diffrent adventures ect, but i just feel that its not really my ideas as i got them from reading other's material you know?
I LOVE BOOKS and i love reading others and am so amazed on how they write, like how they come up with stuff.

but i jot things down wheenver they come to me, and lol im gonna try that work, i try to put real experiences into pages of my work but i get emabrrased as i think well its not really that interesting!

but thankyou very much on your advice and info, and you wouldnt have any idea on how all this copyrighting thing works? and how you get an angent and the publishing world? and lol if the copyrighting laws with the UK and US?

I attend a lot of Science Fiction conventions to network and promote my books, and at one of the panels I attended I was told this. Once, there was an editor who classified everythign he read as either Cinderella or snow white. He bought the cinderella stories, and rejected the snow white stories
