poem: Goodbye, Empty Desk

Jun 17, 2008 22:50

And the vacant seat behind it, unused

For the current users have no need of it.

Daylight bends as it passes through stained glass,

Fake and pastel as the colors may be,

Imprinted memories enrich the stories

--- Tales of knowledge set in the glass.

Bibles in the shelves moved around

As much as the sports bags on the floor,

Chaotically much like the notes missed so much.

Noisy and rude, the speech from all around,

Manner of respect loses its touch,

And there is less stuttering in lectures.

A lonely podium stands near a closed door,

No papers are left there, none at all,

No one dares to touch it,

Not anyone seen by me.

Though chaos prevails inside,

There is a void within…missing…it is gone,

But yet…is that not hope,

An open door of opportunity

--- One of your teachings worth following?

And with great resolve, so I say…

Goodbye, Empty Desk; goodbye, Vacant Seat,

Goodbye and best of luck to you.

I’ll tell the classroom for you:

Adieu, Adieu, Adieu.
