Aside from those very new to my Livejournal friends list (and hello to you few, welcome to the insanity that is my brain), you will remember me making a cryptic post several weeks ago regarding a strange, troubling oracle I received from Hermes.
The message I received that day, using the Homeric Oracle, was thus:
663 - "In no wise do I think he will take you for himself, nor is it proper"
132 - "On the twelfth day he will be coming back to Olympus"
My initial thought was this might mean Hermes would be leaving my life for good, and this upset me quite a lot. Then, as some time passed, I thought it perhaps more likely meant that Hermes would be stepping into the background temporarily in favor of someone else. I went to
sannion and
erl_queen for help with a follow up reading. Sannion has since done his Dionysos oracle, this is the response I got:.
Oh yes, Dionysos confirmed that a strange, new relationship is coming
your way. And it's going to alter a lot of things, sometimes in such a
way that you'll question whether your luck has departed from you. Have
faith, though. All of this is happening for a reason, and it's just
the birth pangs of a new phase of your life taking shape - things
stretching and rearranging themselves to better acommodate this new
entity and what they will bring into your life.
And have no fear - this entity is *not* edging out Hermes. They are
old companions, in fact, having met long ago in the underworld. But
don't think that you'll be able to figure out who they are just from
that. This chthonic side is only something you'll discover later on,
once you've already let them in.
Interesting. Sounds like my life is about to get more difficult than it already is. Which I'm sure I'll be grateful for one of these days, no doubt. But probably not immediately.
So who is this mysterious new relationship? I've had previous contact from only a very few gods. Not Dionysos, probably would've just said if it was. Loki? Maybe. I've been wondering lately about his apparent willingness to answer the few prayers I've felt oddly compelled to make to him (oddly because they aren't things I would normally have thought, "I should go to Loki for this") without asking anything in return; that doesn't happen and I've thought he may be getting ready to show up one day expecting something from me. But then again, maybe not.
Renee has long been telling me that she senses another god around me, one who wasn't yet ready to let me know that he was there. She could never sense much about him, only that it was male and not Greek, she thinks Norse but maybe not. The second paragraph of Dionysos' answer makes me think we're not talking about a Greek god (the Greek gods are all a family really, or at least they operate like one; I don't think you'd have to meet one of your own pantheon elsewhere).
Guess I'll find out one way or another. You have to excuse my theorizing, its not like I can help it; that's the problem with people who live mostly in their own heads, we think too much.
And hey, at least Hermes isn't going anywhere. That's a big relief. :-)
