I now have a table for my Hermes shrine! :-)
My roommates sold their old television and DVD player to the Grove, and told me that I could have their old TV stand since I had been talking about finding a table for my shrine. Its actually a perfect size, with places for me to store my food offerings, my coin box, my hymn book, my small box of divination devices (Tarot cards, Lymrian Oracle, Homeric Oracle, a bag of Runes I can't remember the last time I used them), even a place for my second statue of Hermes (which has been sitting on the windowsill until now, dangerously close to where the cats like to sit and look outside). It is old and a little scratched up, but that's all right, that's what altar cloths are for (when I'm employed, I'll have to find a Joanne's Fabrics somewhere near by, find something nice maybe).
So, I'm happy about that. Tonight I want to get my shrine all set up, do a ritual, sprinkle khernips around and all that. Tomorrow I'm going to have the day to myself since all my roommates will be occupied elsewhere, I had the idea last night that I should devote the day to Hermes and try to do some sort of intense ritual, begin that purge of old mental demons that both Hermes and Dionysos have told me need to go now. Now I'll have a fully consecrated alter to do that at.
Also, since the two boxes I had my shrine on before are now free, if I rearrange my room enough I should be able to set up those boxes as shrines for Dionysos and Persephone, who's stuff is still in storage right now. I've not accumulated anywhere near as much stuff for the two of them that I have for Hermes, so they don't need as much space as he does. But that's assuming I can make enough room, I don't have all that much space to work with. But I'll try.
Maybe I'll even post a picture or two when things are set up to my liking.
So anyway, wish me luck on my ritual tomorrow. I know I need this old baggage purged from my life, but I still haven't quite figured out how to do that yet (hell, if I knew how to do that I would've done it already a long time ago). I have a feeling when its time, I'll know. Hopefully, it won't be too, too ugly. :-)
