Unfortunate job search update
Well, Friday has just about come and gone and I haven't heard anything from the place I interviewed with. Which means I must assume that I didn't get the job. I'm going to try calling on Monday just to be on the safe side, but I'm not expecting anything.
I must assume it was my total lack of job experience that did me in.
Oh well. :-(
But, there is still the Starbucks interview on Monday. I already filled out an application for them (unlike with the other company where I emailed a resume and then filled out an application right before my interview) and they called me up anyway. It won't be the most ideal place to work, I'd be standing in a little cart in the middle of a busy mall (and close to Christmas season no less, but I will be working days if I can help it so that does mean slightly less people), too much contact with an annoying public and the dress code issue (it is at least a black dress code, so I have no objections to the color scheme; however since they don't allow jeans and you have to wear some sort of collared shirt, I will need to go out and buy a bunch of clothes before I can work there, something I was sort of hoping to avoid). The most important thing really is whether or not I'll be making enough money there to be able to support myself, pay my portion of the rent, my phone bills and all that shit. My sister's boyfriend worked for Starbucks for a little while and said he was paid $8-$8.50 an hour, so depending on how many hours I work I might be able to make it, it would be tight but I could do it.
If this particular Starbucks turns me down, my roommates have a friend who works in a different Starbucks a few towns over that could easily get me a job there.
So, with any real luck, I'll have better news on Monday.
