Before gearing yourself up to pull a its either me or its them sort of move, either very directly or in a more passive aggressive way by always pushing their buttons and acting so hostile toward them, tattling on them every time they do something you don't like while reminding everyone of all the wonderful things you have done for them, until it ( Read more... )

Yeah, I think Hellenismos is quickly going the way of Heathenry -- a lot of loud-mouthed posturing douche-bags, but just as many calm, reasonable people on the sidelines.

Were you there to watch me coin the term FailSpartan? THIS! IS! SNAARK-ABLLLLLLE!!!

The last time I visited a Heathen board, it was staffed by right-wing extremists who were stockpiling guns for the coming war with Christians, foreigners, and whoever else was impugning on their proposed tribal society.

I hope we are not heading toward that. Although, I must say you may be right: this attitude that gays and lesbians can't forge meaningful relationships with the gods is one of the first steps in that direction. Scary shit.

Hopefully it won't get as bad. It'll be like Diet Heathenry™! All the bullshit with only half the idiots!

Happily, everything that I've seen about this has been here and at Sannion's lj. I don't play on the forums much and while this could be bad, as I miss some interesting stuff, it's also good, because I miss interesting stuff.

It amuses me that people think they can decide what family is to everyone. Why? Why must it be dictated? I . . . yeah. People suck.

Lucky you. I managed to avoid really getting into any drama for years, until I wound up on the sidelines of one of their drama fits and got myself sucked right in. I sometimes consider just disappearing from the community altogether, but the decent people I've met outweigh the idiots, for the moment at least.

Oh, and that's very true. My girlfriend and I aren't a family, nope, no way. Family is all about kids and lots of them, don't you know.

Of this, I am not sure (as much as I appreciate the political strides that YSEE have made in Hellas, I don't visit that forum much, and I'm not even signed up on there), but it really would not surprise me if this was only a short way off -- his attitude displayed last I saw of the YSEE forum sure as hell seemed headed in that direction ( ... )

While I don't want to know all the gorey details and drama- I'm confused- there's some Hellenic group that is anti-gay?
Given what we know about ancient Greece & Rome, it seems like those would be the most gay-friendly groups.
It seems homophobia would be more of a modern influence than anything else.
