Ritual Planning and Bitchy People

Renee and I had the first ritual planning meeting at the grove for the upcoming Summer Solstice. Renee got the day reserved and we'll be doing some version of Sannion's invention, the Boukokleptia (scroll down). The Hermes and Apollo thing, you know how it goes. :-)

Ending up pissing off Little Miss Sunshine, one of the dingbats that started showing ( Read more... )

The way the grove does ritual it focuses around (usually) two deities, but in addition to calling them there are other parts such as calling the general deities, ancestors and nature spirits, opening the gate, earth mother honoring, etc. all the different aspects of ADF's cosmology. If someone wants a part, there is usually plenty to do; with the drama that we're doing there are even more than usual (we could always use more cows, no seriously :-P). So really, its not as though she is being crowded out, most of these parts are still free at this point, dive in bitch.

That's been my feelings on participation, if i don't know the deity in question or ever had anything to do with them, I probably shouldn't be doing the priestess thing with them. And in a group with such diverse interests, that happens a lot. I defer instead to the person with the greatest knowledge if such a person were available (and why would you do a ritual for a deity that no one had anything to do with? Well, I fully admit I would never do it in my practice and it wouldn't happen in a group I was running, however ... I suppose I can see the rationalization from a different perspective and religious experience than my own).

I don't see this as me being mean or unfair, its not a fucking high school play its a ritual, we're going to do what's best for the gods not what's best for the dip that just has to have the lead role. A choice between someone devoted to the god and someone who likely barely remembers his name from high school mythology class ... yeah, no contest.
