Disgusted.

Admittedly, I need to catch up a bit but I just simply cannot believe the end scene from Persuassion (Smallville's last ep). I just. How did that even air? How is anyone supposed to (or I should say, "still") buying this is the "real" Clark Kent? Whom even thought this plotline was a good idea? Part of me isn't even shocked they want an s10 and ( Read more... )

Well it's clearly not to get ratings - it wasn't spoiled.

I didn't get that feeling, I felt we were supposed to feel like it was bad. Clark above us all watching the world burn. It reminded me a LOT of Devilicus in Warrior. I think it was meant to imply that Clark IS NOT HEROIC right now.

That all being said, (a) I think it was over the line and (b) I'm still disgusted by those whom hail this as good rather than clearly symbolically evil.

Well I think there is that "He's wearing an S that means he's good!"

What? I mean back it up. It's a HUGE THING in the comics to wear an S. The S means a lot. The S is not sullied. People whom don't deserve it get it RIPPED AWAY. To be a villain and wear it is a HUGE dishonor. Wearing the S means nothing without the actions to back it up.

I don't think they are talking because people aren't outraged enough. Plus I think THEY think it's all semi-secretly twist that they can't spoil. It's not. It's obvious to any long term fan. It was obvious once the buzz was cut in HALF at comic-con when the suit wasn't red and blue -- it was BLACK.

People know this isn't good. They do.

The problem is dragging it out to be a WHOLE SEASON. It's boring. It's depressing. They failed to fully commit in Pandora, and I think that was a problem. It's a whole season wasted. And we're not 'in' on it persay.

Which I think is the biggest problem.

"The problem is dragging it out to be a WHOLE SEASON. It's boring. It's depressing."

And it's bad writing. "It was all a dream" is not a good way to wrap up a season. Never has been, never will be. It makes the whole darn thing irrelevant. Why did we sit through it if it didn't matter? It's just a really dumb way to do it.

Well I don't think it's going to remotely be all a dream. I think it's going to be a brainwash. I think what it is meant to do is throw Clark into a pit we can actively root for him to crawl out of and give a REALLY GOOD REASON for him to be a public figure vs. a vigilante or a "blur".

I think it's meant to set up that being public, touchable, though it takes way more time has two main reasons. S8 was the first - it gives hope to the people (BB, early TDK did this). S9 I think is so they are held accountable for their actions - by being in the public he's not as safe, he's not unknown, people can talk to him and expect things of him. It may in fact, ground him (not in the chained way but a reconnection to humanity way).

in a way it kind of reminds me of the evil cordy reveal in season 4 of angel. you just knew something was wrong but the show never really indicated it so everyone kept thinking that cordy was just being written OOC to serve the plot.

they took so long to reveal evil cordy, that by the time they did it almost didn't matter, the character was destroyed.

i checked IMDb and the reveal came in episode 12, on february 12th.

its possible that the twin towers is supposed to be the equivalent of cordy killing liliah but if so it doesn't appear to be enough.

Yes!!! Yes it really does remind me of evil Cordy. I think with Clark though they maybe, might, be able to jump out of it as the Black Outfit is a pretty clear indicator all along.

Honestly? I suspect the next episode to be worse for Clark too.

I really do this gets addressed somehow in the next episode because I truely can't believe that the press nor the FBI would be all up on a building that out of no where in their eyes burst into flames and then came crashing down.

I'm not American either, Vera, but one doesn't have to be American to be affected by the events of 9/11. Anyone with half a heart was horrified when the Twin Towers went down. Everyone knows where they were when it happened, and everyone who watched Persuasion will immediately be reminded.

I came very close to dying on 7/7/05 in London; my train had left the station just before one of the ones that got blown up pulled in. Also, the bus that exploded was right beside the Faculty of Law, where I would have been studying if I hadn't had an emergency call to go into work that day. If I ever watched a show where someone who was supposed to be Superman blew up trains - even empty ones - I'd be traumatised. I haven't watched the Persuasion footage, and I don't think I ever will because it brings back too many painful memories of 9/11 ( ... )
