Long may you run...

Here comes a sentimental post... Today I signed away the title to my old '99 Saab 9-5. It was getting old and too expensive to keep fixing, so a few weeks ago I purchased a newer '04 Saab 9-3 (I've become a Saab addict and it was a good deal). I knew the salvage yard I sold the car to would be coming to tow the car away, but when I returned from teaching lessons it was gone and it hit me. A few of the memories and things I'll miss:
-I treated it like a puppy (because I never had one growing up). It would "be excited" to see me (It would chirp when I'd press a button) and I would be excited to see it likewise. The new car sadly doesn't chirp.
-I received my first ticket in it as well as got in my first accident with it. Not the happiest of memories, but you're supposed to remember the good and the bad... Right?
-I've driven all across the country in it including Montana to visit Kayla, a few long, sporadic trips to see love interests, and an overnight trip to attend my grandfather's funeral.
-Whenever people would enter it, the first words they would utter are "It smells like a crayon in here."

With that, I offer this excerpt from the lyrics of a Neil Young classic in memory of "The Crayon Car":
We've been through
some things together
With trunks of memories
still to come
We found things to do
in stormy weather
Long may you run.

Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.

Adios.

saab, car
