Costa Rica - Post #7 - Summary

Well, its a few days after my return from Costa Rica. If this is the first post you're reading, go ahead and backtrack to Post #1. To pick up where things left off in the last post, turns out the person I was being introduced to was one of the leading candidates in Costa Rica's presidential race. I may have met the future leader of a nation. Sweet. The horn sectional later that day went ok, as did the rehearsal where I was presented with my own "Sinem Nicoya" t-shirt. Students then proceeded to take photos with me, get my signature, and whatnot... It was like I was a celebrity. That night I cooked the "American"-style cuisine for the family, which was interesting because I was running w/o a recipe. All in all it turned out well and the rest of the evening was relaxing. The next morning I had a sad goodbye to the family (they were really awesome) and boarded a bus back to San Jose.

When I arrived in San Jose, I sat in the bus terminal for 45 minutes expecting my friends to arrive at the same place... Not the case. So I tried making a phone call to Ronny who would be dropping Blythe off, which then turned into an ordeal involving a homeless man, two street vendors, a missionary, and a security agent. Long story short, I got picked up by Ronny and we went to find our hotel. We didn't do much that first day in San Jose other than go to a fancy restaurant and drink three bottles of very nice wine.

Our second day in San Jose really wasn't in San Jose. We went on the San Lorenzo canopy tour, which pretty much was just giant zip lines through a tropical forest. You know... The usual. It really was a blast, and the weather was beautiful making it a perfect last full day in Costa Rica. We came back to San Jose that evening and did some shopping for relatives and grabbed a bite to eat before calling it an early night.

The return back from Costa Rica was pretty uneventful, except that I lost my little Moleskine notebook with all my notes and contacts from the past 6 months. Sad, sad day. Anyway, the entire trip was fantastic and I'm extremely glad I went. The only thing I regret is not actually having a chance to relax and see my family over the break, but in only 2-3 more weeks I'll be home in NJ. Anyway, I've gotta get going, but to sum up the entire trip, the Costa Rican's have a saying: "Pura Vida!" This is a saying for the good, the bad, and well, any time. It's pretty cool they have a unifying saying for their country. Thanks again for a great time Costa Rica and Pura Vida!

Adios.
