The last time I posted on LJ was February 19th. That's sad. A lot has happened since then. Let's review.
In March, I ran the Rock 'n' Roll Dallas Half Marathon. cmmunchkin and I both got PR times at that race. The race conditions were really great, and it's my best run to date. I finished with a time of 1:27:38. It was also the first time that I got to wear my Brooks ID uniform at a race, and it was great because I got to see a lot of other Brooks runners at that race since there are so many in Dallas. I also got to meet Frank Shorter after the race was over. Very cool day. cmmunchkin beat her previous half marathon time by 27 minutes. It was a great day for racing.
The middle of the semester was a rough time for everyone. There have been a lot of changes to the nursing curriculum, and it all started with my class. Multiple classes were split up over more than one semester, and it's been very rough on everyone involved. We're dealing with the changes made to our class, and the instructors have been dealing with the combination of the old and new curriculums all at the same time. At one point, 60% of our class was failing at least one of our three required classes. The class took a huge survey about academics and the changes that were made. It was all presented before a student affairs committee. After that, things got a little better for everyone involved, but it was a really trying time for the whole school. I ended up finishing the semester with 3 B's and 1 A by the grace of the nursing gods who must have been looking out for me. Fortunately, I had the support of cmmunchkin at home, really great nursing school friends around me everyday, and the best nursing instructors in the world to help me through it all.
Between the spring and fall semesters, cmmunchkin and I went on the our real vacation since we moved to Nacogdoches in April of 2008. We took a cruise to Alaksa, and it was amazing!! Feel free to check out pictures.
Now, I'm in summer school taking abnormal psychology. It's one of my last two classes to finish up my psychology major. It will be wonderful to finally be done with something. One more class in the second summer session.
We started watching 24 on Netflix. What a great show. I'm glad we didn't start watching it until it came out on Netflix. I would hate to have to wait a week to watch the next episode. I like watching them straight through. We're in the middle of season 2 right now.
Anyway...that's enough for tonight.
