Last Friday I went with dad to go on errands. I was hoping to stop at somewhere fun for the tax-free stuff but alas it was not meant to be. I ended up being recruited to make dad's co-workers brownies. Yes of the non-druggie kind. So miffed b/c he made this big deal about how he needed to bring something in for them since he's leaving and that buying storebought pastries wasn't right. So why did I have to make them? Don't get me wrong, I like making things for other peeps but if you're going to give me a giant speech about how much more personal it is to give 'homemade' goods then why not make it yourself? *sigh* We went to pick up his paycheck, Stop & Shop for brownie mix, TJ Maxx for his pants, McDonalds (dollar menu all the way), and then to SHU to pick up mom. We were there a half hour early so I left for the bathroom. I ran into Kruti on the way and she told me that peeps were let out early from IT. Coolio. I ran into Stephy and Alyssa when I was heading out and asked where my pants were. From there we took a trip to the mailroom and then headed towards the HC wing. I was just going to walk them towards the door and head back to the SC wing but they decided to accompany me back. We ended up just standing outside the car talking until my mom was let out. Stephy was actually there to trade back her laptop. Hmm, decided then that I was going to return mine on Monday. Oo, also got a some fudge Reese's peanut butter bar. Goodness. Mom came out and I said my good-byes. We ended up buying Chinese from this place in Seymour, first time. Dad didn't really get what we wanted though, lol. I mean, c'mon, Kung Pao? IT HAS NUTS! Granted the chicken was spicy, but Kuya and I don't like it with nuts. Blech. Sci-fi Friday so watched Eureeka, Night Stalker, and Stargate SG-1. Yes, we've already established that I am a geek. Actually pretty uneventful in the night.
Saturday, being the last day of the tax-free stuff, was my last hope of shopping. Okay, yeah, we didn't have money...none of us did. But at least let me look at the pretty. I even cut out the coupons that were in the post. We first woke up early in order to bring mom to Griffin to draw her blood. After that was done we went to eat. My God they've remodelled in the two years since I last saw the place. Saw Leonard too, although he looked sad. I was hoping to say hi to Gabe since it was 10ish when we were leaving but didn't see him. Oh, I ended up buying a book towards the end of the day at Barnes & Noble. Believe me, there were plenty there that I wanted to purchase but I only had ten dollars...as in my mom gave me ten dollars a couple of weeks ago. Now I only have $4. *sniffles* We went to McDonalds, WalMart, Staples, Big Lots, Michael's and BJ's. Not in that order. I was so surprised to see a Michael's in Waterbury, right next to Toys R Us. It was the most beautiful store. We went to mass afterwards and then to Friendly's. We were planning on doing the twelve scoop sundae thing b/c I told them joys of it when I had it last year. Of course we didn't follow the plan b/c after dinner, mom and Kuya didn't want it anymore. We went home and again nothing eventful.
Yesterday was just irking. We needed to go to the grocery and mom and dad were just not moving. They kept saying 'we need to go' and such but neither made a move. I was already dressed and ready to go. We didn't leave until 1ish. Mom ended up staying behind so dad and I went out. It was so uncomfortable on the car ride back b/c dad started asking me if I was worried about the financial situation we were in. Yeah, tact out the window at this Monday as I replied with a 'che-yeah!'. Then he laughed it off and asked why.
-_-
Are you kidding me? Mom and him have been "discussing" the money issues everyday. If they think that there's some invisible wall between them and me at home then they're silly. Every answer brought on another question. It's like he was digging around for an answer that he liked. He also asked me what does mom do when she's stressed and then somehow it got back to me and what I do when I'm stressed. He then ended with telling me not to worry about the money, that everything will work out the way they're supposed to. Okay, know the philosophy, like it too, but that doesn't relieve any tension that's building between mom and EVERYONE. Mom has always been the most difficult to please. I cleaned out my laptop and transferred my files to the home comp's harddrive. Made dad's co-workers their two trays of brownies and watched the Emmys. Not all of it but I watched until Jon Stewart and Sephen Colbert presented together. After them, I just didn't care, lol. Conan was funny. That is all. I made sandwiches for mom and me and I packed my bag.
This morning woke up, changed and grabbed my stuff. Good thing I had it all prepared the night before. I only had 30 minutes to do everything before we had to meet dad outside. Gabe through Steph told me that IT doesn't start taking laptops until 10 and that it ends at 4. Hence, me having to stay on campus. Really, it seemed like a great idea. I spent two hours in the computer lab trying to work on my story (by hand since my document is in the home HD). Then this group of freshmen came in and what did they all do? Well the introduced each other to one another and became friends...on FB. So much I didn't want to know. I was so grateful when it hit 10. I headed down to the UC and there was already quite a bit of people there. I ran into Alyssa and she let me know that it was a faculty rollback thing today. She told me to come back around 11:30. Okie doke. So I've been in Mahogany room for a while and then Alyssa calls to tell me that they're not accepting any other laptops except from faculty.
Bummer.
So I'm using Internet Explorer at the moment b/c I already removed Firefox. Too lazy to reinstall and then remove. Dad also walkie-talkied me and asked about my laptop. I told him the situation and he said to have mom talk to the IT people to see if they can squeeze me in. ^_^; I'm really okay about waiting to trade back my laptop and I told him that but he said it was a waste for me not to try and get the new laptop while I was there. Plus if I needed any help and such I had Kuya here before he went back to RIT (he leaves Thursday). So I'm waiting for mom to come for lunch and I'll ask her b/c dad would be miffed if I didn't. The best part being that people are starting to come in for lunch and right next to me is Dean Wielks and an IT guy. Happiness.
