Continuing the celebration of their 10th anniversary season, Tongue and Groove Theatre presents The Head, Hands, and Toe Show II. This whimsical production, which effectively captures both the panache of the 19th century musichall and the showmanship of 20th century vaudeville, makes a triumphant return to the Austin stage.

The Head Hands and Toe Show is a series of inventive musical numbers performed with the dancers’ bodies mostly hidden from view. You can see heads, you can see toes...sometimes hands, and sometimes everything is in the wrong place!

This production features three new vignettes choreographed by the company and three more new pieces by guest choreographers, which include Rob Williams of Flaming Idiots fame and Josh Meyer and Matt Hislope of Rubber Repertory Company. The foot-stomping soundtrack is provided by The International Tubadores: Jonathan Hoyle, Lisa Shawley, and Chris LaCava.

This knee-slapping show is the inaugural production for the new outdoor performance space at Ararat. Ararat has been located in the fashionable North Loop business district for over ten years, and features delicious Middle-Eastern style dishes. Make a reservation to eat dinner inside or on their outdoor patio before or after the show and enjoy the show for half price!

This family-oriented show was originally conceived by Johnny Simons, Artistic Director of Fort Worth’s celebrated Hip Pocket Theatre and produced by Tongue and Groove in 2003, to rave reviews, including:

…the overall effect is simple fun, as evidenced by the happy families at last Saturday’s matinee. (Robi Polgar, in The Austin Chronicle, August 22, 2003)

Directed by David Yeakle, The Head, Hands, and Toe Show II features the performances of Tongue and Groove veterans Adam Martinez (Dromio in The Comedy of Errors) and Elizabeth Doss (Flaminia in The Three Cuckolds), plus newcomers Blake Smith (Zanni in The Three Cuckolds), Geoffrey Brown (Leandro in The Three Cuckolds), Eve Lerma (Little Egypt in How to Belly-Dance for Your Husband), and Adriene Mishler (The Philomel Project).
