Yesterday I visited my second grade teacher, Mrs. Dexheimer. I hadn't seen her, nor had I been in contact with her since I was six years old. Within a few seconds of scanning my face for familiarity she called out "Laura...Cross!!" and gave me a hug. She pulled out pictures from my class, and we talked about my going into education. I was encouraged when she said, "I know you haven't got it all figured out, and you probably feel lost, but you have a good head on your shoulders." It's funny to me, how someone who hasn't been involved in my life for close to 12 years still has an effect on me. Going back showed me that I have a continual respect for her, and visiting affirmed that. It's good to tell people that what they do matters.
I've been doing this and that. Writing and running, reading and working. People are trickling in, and the summer is upon us.
