So.. I manage to screw everything up. Life hangs in the balance for me, definitely today has been a two sided coin. Today on the last of last days, i wait to pay off the final balance for my ticket to go home, only to realize that the money that was supposed to drawn out of my atm card will not come out of my savings account for some unknown reason. So thinking i'm not making it home; i went to check for my mail, WHICH FINALLY! well what do you know?! my new atm card is here! (ON THE LAST DAY TO PAY OFF THE TICKET, COINCIDENCE?? I THINK NOT!) then i was thinking it was going to let me withdraw all the money i needed, but no... if only life were that simple... So are u following?... Here it is in a nutshell, i needed to pay off 671.00 dollars. Seeing as i have no credit card, leaves me with cold hard cash. I already had on me 320.00 dollars, do the math, i needed 351.00 dollars! I take my happy ass running from the clinic to the atm machine across base, all the way across might i add, and in 98 plus degree weather. Only to find out i could only take out 300.00 dollars! So i call some people, bump into some others over a matter of minutes, and then i had to run back to the clinic cause i heard the officer is looking for me.

(Story continues) Oh but lets not forget that before that i could take out money from the new atm card i had to activate it, so there goes ken, calling home like crazy, my family back home activates it, and then almost like a guy passing off the baton at a relay race, i run to the atm machine. Then enter the shortage of 50.00 dollars story. So i run back to the clinic cause i can't keep the officer waiting, sweating like a hog, geez! to think if i wasn't a good runner, whoa. As soon as i get back to the clinic i tell my friend to run to the atm machine and withdraw 40.00 dollars for me, cause i had gotten ten somewhere else (except the ten was in yen, japanese currency... no comment.. which i later had to change to american AAHHH!) i get in the last words "i need it before 5 pm", mind you its already 4:05 pm. Then the officer calls my name out, HN DIAZ!.. uh-oh. So he tells me to sit down, and he wants to know where i've been, i tell him the whole ticket story, FAILING TO MENTION THAT I HAVEN'T BOUGHT IT YET!!!, man! ken fool!

He says oh alright, calming down a little bit, and then wants to proceed to tell me that they need a new person at the warehouse building to work there, nothing to do with medical stuff. He said that since i was one of the medics that has been at the clinic the longest, that i was a candidate, great! I basically told him no, no thanks, and then I gave him some BS reason as to why not, which sadly is almost true. So he said "alright good, just wanted to see your view on that, carry on" me: yes, sir (whew!) I THINK NOT!. So its over you say??! no not really, I FORGOT THAT I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE FREAKIN TICKET! current time during realization of the such: 4:45 p.m.! So just to let you know something else: I'm on clinic duty today; meaning i have to stay behind until like 6/7pm for any late calls, emergency pts, the such, anyways, when duty is over you have these duty keys, in order to lock all the doors, and at some point, oh i don't know SOMEONE LIKE THE OFFICER IN CHARGE WILL NEED THEM! in all the commotion of getting back to my friends' room to get the money, and then running back to the ticket agency, i took the keys with me, instead of leaving them behind... I luckily found a ride back to the barracks, and then found out that my friend had just got home, and he still needed to withdraw the money.

So we both got a ride to the atm machine, he withdrew the money, we dropped him off, then my friend drove me to the ticket agency, I ran in to check to see if the lady was in there, yes she was, ran back out to tell my friend who upon recieving the signal drove off. I ran back inside, sat down counted the money and realized that 10.00 dollars of it was in yen! AHH! I ran over to the currency exchanger, changed the money, ran back signed the papers, finally recieved the ticket, not realizing what time it was... I ran back to the clinic this time on foot, sweating it off again, pants all falling down like a ghetto vato. By the time i got back the officer was gone, but not my friend (a different one) whom i was surprised to see there. Then i happened to notice he was on the phone, and then said "oh here he is...", click. He hung up the phone and said the officer had been looking for me, yes i had failed to tell him i was leaving, for the DUTY KEYS! ack! my friend told me he was pissed and that we would settle it tommorrow great! sure sir see you then.

So where is the good news for today? Let's see well for one, i finally bought my ticket to go home, all done at last minute, like a good procrastinator. Ah yes! The exam i've been studying for i passed today! I've been studying for a long long long long time. There are four phases, i've already passed three of them, now for the final one! I passed the written exam (200 some odd questions), the pratical applications (rifle, night land navigation, taking care of patients), and the hardest part some people say, The MOCK BOARD, to see if your ready for the THE REAL BOARD, held by the master chief of this base, i'm a little nervous, but people before me have done it. Here I go. Here's to getting yelled at tommorrow (raises his H20 bottle). Out.. what an eventful day...
