I went to the employment agency appointment today. I got there and signed in and was led to a computer where I watched an orientation video. I was feeling really optimistic that it must be a foregone conclusion that they will get you job no matter what. I had already filled out the application online so I didn't have to do that. After I watched the video I signed and filled out about 20 more forms.
After that the lady who was supposed to help me comes over and introduces herself and asked me if the one month computer store job I had on the form was the only job I have had of any kind, even if it was just fast food. I told her it was and she said she'd be with me in just a few minutes. When she came back she led me to her desk and told me that they can't help anybody unless they have at least 6 months work experience of any kind. And on top of that she said their demand for PC technicians is non-existant. I was so mad that I got all dressed up for this, gave them all my personal information, waited, and all I got was a one minute sorry.
I thought computers were supposed to be one of the fastest growing industries. I just don't understand what I have to do to find another job. What am I going to have to do, get a job in fast food and on the side advertise in the paper and hand out flyers so all the old people in the senior community I live in will hire me to fix their computers? Is this what an associate's degree and a $250 PC tech certification is supposed to accomplish?
