Watch Your Kid, Lady!
Alright, so my dad and I had gone to pick up some dinner in downtown Roanoke, which has recently really sprung up. While waiting for the food we got snowcones and whatnot, was very fun, but we were driving along, very slowly of course, and there was a group of maybe five adults, plus one kid that must have been six, seven or eight. Well two of the adults had crossed already and were standing on the other side of the tiny little road, waiting for us to pass so that the kid and the other adults could join them and continue going wherever they were going. We sped up a tad, accordingly.
However, as we were driving, the kid suddenly jumps out in front of us, not even looking at us, to get with the other adults. He was maybe a few feet from our bumper. My dad slammed the brake, of course, the kid didn't even notice and continued skipping along to the others. What had the mother/others been doing? Sitting and staring. One of them looked shocked and covered her mouth whilst this was happening, was probably the kid's mom, but apparently didn't have the idea to reach out and grab her kid before he started running into the road. If my dad hadn't been paying attention he would have been hit. Granted, we were in the prius, we wouldn't have flattened him, but it could have seriously caused some injury. We're lucky the thing stops on a dime.
And they didn't even say thank you or wave at us or anything...
