Obsidian's Post on Promiscuity)
I hate the word slut- it is a hate word and gives more insight to the character of the speaker than the person they are calling it...
Promiscuous? according to M-w.com it means "not restricted to one sexual partner" At a time?
Ok, I will buy that. It means the opposite of monogamous, so if you are not monogamous, you are promiscuous. That is a word that describes facts, without judgment.
Slut is a hate word, it involves dehumanizing and usually a bit of resentment. It is about making someone smaller than they are. Male or female. As I said, people who use this word show their own hatefulness and ignorance.
As for number of partners, why not just use "experienced, very experienced or inexperienced" as a descriptor? Wouldn't that make a lot more sense? People get intimidated by numbers, even if they are TWICE as experienced as you are. No one wants to think of your past partners. Numbers give identity of sorts (i.e. #1, #2, etc.).
Better to just say very experienced, no experience, or something in between. Far less charged, ya know?
