False Economy
No, not a comment on today's Budget speech. Merely a trivial rant about cheap plastic lunchbags.
I'm economising. Which means making sure I take my lunch to work everyday rather than buying something. And I economised even further by buying Somerfield's cheapest yellow-pack sandwich bags. The trouble is, the bottom seams open up very easily.
So today I put some Vegemite sandwiches in one bag and a slightly stale custard doughnut in another AFTER carefully tying knots in the bottoms of the bags first. On getting to work I took both bags out of my handbag to put them in my drawer. Half of the Vegemite sandwiches fell on my chair. The doughnut fell in my handbag.
As if this wasn't enough I emptied everything out of my bag and then tipped it upside down to get the sugar granules out and discovered I'd left my compact in the bag and it fell on the floor leaving trails of face powder in the carpet.
At least it gave our team a good laugh.
Tomorrow's sandwiches will be cheese. And wrapped in foil. And not in my handbag........
