[Miyabi actually does notice Salt coming, but doesn't do much move than look at him. She really would have to tell him she wasn't coming back, wouldn't she? She felt a little bad for more or less abandoning him like this, but...she had to keep the tree safe. It was a promise.

So when Salt comes swooping down, she just lifts her head wordlessly.]

... [frowns a bit in worry] ... what happened?

[It hurts. It hurts to say it. Even just thinking about the words Amaterasu is gone felt like something was clawing at her chest, but...it had to be said. With a deep, shuddering breath, the girl whispers painfully--]

...Ammy--Amaterasu was...sent home. [A long pause.] Th-This is her tree. I'm...I'm going to protect it.

[Salt lands beside her, wings drooping then he touches her shoulder lightly] Miyabi...

[She tenses at the touch at first, but relaxes a second later. Miyabi offers him a sad, forced smile. She really didn't want to worry him, and she was trying to be strong, but it was hard.] Thank you.

Ah...I'm sorry, but...I-I don't know if I'll be coming back. Maybe for a little bit, but--mm. [She looks up at the tree, towering over them and raining down soft, pink blossoms.] This is Amaterasu's tree. She made it here in Luceti... She treasured and protected it when she was here, and I-I think she'd like it if I did the same in her stead. I want to protect and nurture this tree for her.

I want it to be here if she ever comes back again.

[nods as he looks up as well] I understand.... will you be alright here living on your own though?

I-I think so. You don't have to worry, Salt. [It will be hard at first, just setting up a place to stay, but she'll manage. If it's too hard, she knows people will help her.] I'll still visit you, okay? I promise.

You have to remember to visit! [looks around] Will you need a tent then?

Of course I will. [It's not as chipper or excited as usual - she's still very upset - but the second sentence seems to draw her attention more.] Eh? Oh...uhm, I-I didn't think of that. I was going to ask a bird to share a nest, but... Ah, y-yes. I think I might need one.

A tent would be better than a nest! I wonder if they have such a small one though... or maybe we can get someone to make one for us!

Do you think anyone could? Ah--I remember also seeing houses in some of the shops one time!! They were made of wood and with some work, I think they'd be just perfect for me!

[She's talking about a birdhouse.]

Someone must be able to! ... little house you mean? Like model houses?

Uhm...I-I don't think so. They were made of wood, with a little round hole on the face and small peg under the hole. They looked kind of weird. I saw some hanging on trees or in other peoples' gardens before, too.

Oh! Bird houses! I think that's what they're called!

Ah, yes, I think that's it!! If I can hang one up on the tree, and fix it up a tiny bit...I think it's be just perfect for me. I've never seen the inside, but if I can make a little bed and some other things, it'll be just fine. I'll try and look for one later.

[She doesn't really need too much. Miya was used to living the was she did in Nippon. She did it for all of her life, after all. Though the luxuries of having electric appliances were nice, and electric lights to paint by at night...]
