Thirtieth Ink Drop [Action]

[Today was a good day.

It was moderately sunny, not too cold, and the wind was just right. So, Miyabi was bouncing her way toward the plaza happily, singing a little song in Japanese to herself. She had just finished a fresh batch of paintings and was going to spread them around the plaza for people to see.

And this time, she was truly proud of ( Read more... )

[A girl dripping with water, you say? Well, Katara happens to be walking along the riverbank, talking with Sona who... makes a surprisingly good listener, once you get to know her... and begins to approach the other girl.]

--well, yes, I know that. But that doesn't mean that--

[Blink, blink, stopping short now as Miyabi comes into view.] Hey - are you all right?

[Miyabi didn't notice Katara until she spoke up, still getting the water from her dress and making sure the trapped mallet wouldn't try to leap away while she stood. She's a bit irritable still, but cooled off a good amount after taking out her righteous poncle fury on the assailant of her precious art.

Who's getting a foot slammed down hard on it as it tries to leap away.]

Yep. I'm doing just fine. [Grind, grind.]

Uh.. [OK, struggling against a... blanket? Is a little weird even by Luceti's standards.] Maybe I can help you out with that...

[And without bothering to explain what she means, Katara bends the water off of Miyabi and all her various... wet things, and sends it back into the river.]

[WHOA.]

Nyeh, h-how did you do that?! I'm all dry now!

[Katara smiles.] I'm a waterbender. My name's Katara. I just... bent the water off you, that's all.

Water...bender? [She tilts her head a little in confusion (how could someone bend water?), but looks herself over, patting at her dress. It really was bone dry.] Ah, well, thank you very much, Miss Katara! My name is Miyabi, but you can call me Miya if you like. It's a pleasure to meet you!

[Bow.]

['Miss,' what is this 'miss?' Katara shakes her head.] Just Katara, please. It's nice to meet you, Miya! I'm glad I could help. Wet clothes are no fun.

[She nods to acknowledge Katara's request and smiles.] Ah, yes. Well, I wouldn't have gotten all wet if this stupid--...Eh, where'd it go?!

[While the two girl were chatting, and being happily distracted, the tightly bound Lucky Mallet was making a break for it, hopping and wriggling blinding towards town. Luckily Miyabi spots it and leaps forward.]

You're not getting away thing time, you!!

[Is that... blanket-thing... hopping?

Katara thought she'd seen some strange things in Luceti, but that's just... odd.]

Umm... need any help?

[With... whatever you're doing there?]

[Luceti and Nippon have their fair share of oddities, that's for sure, and Miyabi caught the little bundle, hitting it with her fist a few times and tightening the scroll so it wouldn't be able to move at all.]

Nah, I got it. Stupid mallet...I'm gonna have to make sure I find a place it can't get out of this time. [She sighs and walks back over with the bundle tightly held in her hands.] I'm sorry, but Luceti doesn't have a storage or anything like that, does it?

[Uh... okay. Katara blinks a few times at Miyabi hitting the... scroll? Mallet? What on earth?]

Not that I know of. [Pause.] But for me, if something's important, I've always found it's best to keep it on me. You never know what could happen.

[Well, if you're not going to ask, Miyabi's not going to tell you just what the thing she's struggling to keep a hold of really is.]

Ah...I can't keep it in my house. It'll never fit, otherwise I'd keep it around as much as possible so it doesn't run off again. This time was just the very last straw. It ruined my best work to date!! I put so much work into that painting, and I was so proud of it...

[She sighs, then pouts and tightens the scroll up even more, as if that might help rid her of her anger.]

It won't fit? [Staring at the... whatever it is, and staring at Miyabi.] Why not? And what do you mean 'run off?' Is it alive?

E-Eh...well. [Oh, gods, you're really gonna make her say it, aren't you? S-Sob, this is going to hurt.] I-I'm not--uhm...I'm actually...very small. [Ow, my pride.] The thing I have here is called the Lucky mallet. It's a tool from my world, that can make people grow big or small according to what side you're hit with.

Ah...I don't know if it's really alive or not, but it does have a mind of its own.
