Going back in time,....back to my freshmen year in highschool, which would be 1994,...i walked into the tech after transfering from westford academy after 2 months, wearing my fairly new "facelift" t-shirt. Later on i learned that weltron noticed the "new kid" thinking "hey he likes AIC too"...well i started talking to brian soon after about alice in chains. At the time AIC was my favorite band as well as his, and dominated most of our conversations. I always wore a hat in those days,..my Alice In Chains hat,..and the english teacher started to call me "alice in chains" and still to this day sometimes will see me around and refer to me as "alice in chains"

Me and brian formed a band soon after sometime in our sophmore year i think, playing alice tunes, always wishing that one day they would finally come around for a tour,...in light of recent news, that will never happen now. I saw jerry and his band (which include sean) open for metallica and i think i was more happy to see jerry than metallica, it was 50% of AIC,...good enough, atleast i saw something, but held some hope that layne would clean himself up,..then i saw jerry again in a small more intimite place in RI, i went with mariah, brian, tobs and rick...still good though, still more of a tease.....its a little weird to know that something you have been hoping for , for years, is now impossible...i know things were leaning in this direction for a long time,..but that still doesn't take my shock away

Alice's music was the music that i first really learned on guitar,..from the time i heard the song nutshell it has been my favorite song, out of every song i can think of, even any dreamtheater song, there was nothing more personal,....im not really sure what else i can say about how i feel, im not a very good writer,....its sad,... i suppose that even though the band was technically over a while ago the music still stood,...and it will stand the test of time unlike most of the pop shit on MTV,...i rememebr reading a post on the official site, someone said after hearing ahout layne he looked at MTV for "music news" but nothing came,..he heard from CNN first,...and went on saying that after Aaliyah died MTV was totally focused on her,....way for them to go for the flavor of the month rather then the well accomplished singer,...anyway i don't want to bitch about MTV..i really just wanted to express my feelings about layne...which i really don't know what else to say,...other than i will forever be a fan, and to thank him, where ever he might be, for every minute of music that was written, it is some of the most powerful music out there, and inspired me in a large way, he is loved and will be missed by many
