How Do We Make it Stop?

Yesterday something sparked me to watch Old School Grey's. I popped in "1.05 Shake Your Grove Thing" while I ate my Chinese food. It's one of my favorite episodes, that one, I think because the sentiment it puts across of fighting against responsibility is one that I understand completely, especially right now ( Read more... )

Exactly. It's a mark of how good it is that it's grown. They're not stuck in a time warp where the characters don't grow. Life changes in the same way.

On the other hand, I miss it.

Also: Glad you're back watching it. I missed you in Grey's-world

Old School Grey's is amazing; the first season is still one of my favorite seasons of TV ever.

And I think that a good TV show allows the characters to grow, but still keeps them relatable. There was one episode last season -- the career/job vs. love episode -- that really hit home with me. And I think Grey's lost some of that recently -- as well as the camaraderie that was so great in season 1. But I think they got it back in season 7 - just in a different way - and particularly with the group that Callie/Arizona/Teddy/Bailey/Mark seemed to have formed.

And I love this piece from Entertainment Weekly. :)

I saw that piece, and I agree with most of it. My attention is still dedicated to the original characters, though. I feel more invested in them. I like Jackson and April, but I relate more to Mer and Lexie.
