Questions from
unblinkered:
1. Are you content with your life just now?
In many ways. I wish I was busier at work or at least felt that what I was doing had a bigger impact. I'd also like a new body.
2. How come there haven't been more tales of adopted kittens recently?
We have both been too busy to manage a kitten feeding schedule.
3. Favourite market stall?
There are several I really like. Alex Farms at the St. Lawrence has the widest range of farmhouse and artisanal cheeses I have ever seen. I suspect that if it's commercially available, they can get it. The Hungarian pig guys (do they have a name?) are also great. They raise their own pigs and sell a wide range of fresh, smoked and cured pig products, all of very high quality. I also have a soft spot for Monforte Dairy who make small quantities of sheeps milk cheese of various types. Lovely people to chat to and appreciative of knowledgeable customers.
4. I have an idea of what books, music and films you like, but what are your thoughts on architecture?
It's not something I think about a lot but I'm aware of it as a component of the urban landscape that I inhabit. I'm not overly thrilled by Victorian Gothic or Modern Brutalist. I tend to like Romanesque and Neo-Classical more. I appreciate modern architecture that's trying to do more than fit the biggest possible glass and concrete block into a given space. I like Durham Cathedral, The PPG building and the new crystal at the ROM. I dislike the TD Centre and Tunney's Pasture intensely. I like the Canadian Supreme Court building.
5. Do you think of me as Irish or German?
I dunno really. More Irish than German I suppose. Just don't mention the war!
