New Guidelines for Little Hollywick

Feb 10, 2011 12:15

Okay, so I'm still a little "iffy" on how I want to play the town; but I'm sure over time it will all work out. There will most likely be more changes in the future if something about it just isn't working for me. But for now, this is what will happen:

This sounds like it will be fun. :) I understand what you mean about the businesses, but I actually really enjoy that part. =P Besides, once I get further a long, I will have enough jobs open that most sims won't even need to own a business.
I can't wait to see more from Little Hollywick. :)

I agree with you, the challenge was definitely fun! I just am at a point where I want to do more, and I'm impatient! But I think the BaCC is still my favorite challenge out there, and I still love reading about other people's attempts at it!

It is definitely my favorite as well. I love the idea of having the whole neighborhood involved and also the fact that it IS quite challenging. :)
I think it is fun to read about others attempts to. It gives me idea on how to improve on my own.

My biggest peeve with BaCC is the whole business deal. I don't like the idea that every lot should be owned by a sim, it's too tedious! I like how your handling college. It's always troubling keeping everyone aged a part because of uni.

Yeah, it's not going to be easy to keep their ages the same through Uni, but I think I figured out a feasible way to do it!

Sounds fun, I'm very interested to see how works for you. I'm really awful at businesses but seeing your progress has made me want to try my hand at them again.

One question, how do you manage the money aspect? Do you just leave the sims with the 20,000 they come with out of CAS or do you use familyfunds? Your houses are so pretty and well decorated I can't imagine how you do it with only 20,000 to begin with.

Usually the pictures from the house tours are after the sim has been played for a week. Sometimes I gave them loans using Simlogicals loan shrubs so that they could have nice houses from the beginning, and then they just pay it back by the end of the week. I'm sure that broke the rules, but I just love building and decorating! Lol.

From here on out though, sims have to live within their means. They can still take out loans, but I probably won't have them do it for things like furniture unless they really need something.

Ha, I have the same weakness, that's why I fail so miserably at challenges! I am always cheating for more money to move them into nice, big houses. I have never heard of Simlogical's loan shrub, but it sounds really cool. Very realistic!

Well, it's actually called the "mortgage shrub". It can be found here.

There's also paintings that do the same thing, but they come in more denominations. Found here.

They're fun to play with for sure!

I've really enjoyed your BaCC, and I look forward to seeing how you play this out. Maybe I'll eventually get around to trying it. :) May I friend you to see updates?

Friend away! I love new friends...it means more journals for me to discover and read. We'll see how this new way of playing goes. The great thing about it is that I can change my mind anytime I want, because it's my own "challenge"!

Yay for realism! It just does not make sense to me that the sims just basically get a house for free. And the way sims with college education can jump straight into a top job and take home a career reward the first day? It is just too jarring.

Exactly! I will be using a mod that changes which jobs need college degrees (it never made sense that you had to have a college degree to be an Artist, but not in the Medical field!), and I am adding post-graduate degree work that my sims have to have for certain jobs and levels. But more on that later.
