Huh

Online friend has another friend who wants to use some metaphors from "Model Citizen" in his "Metaphor and Crime Fiction"-type column. I said yes, of course. Right thing to do? I'm sort of feeling that I haven't written anything really good since I moved all my files into my thumb drive and had my computer de-virused. For a while, I thought the good ideas would be back any second now, but I guess it's been about six weeks and I've written less than ten pages on what you could call the Mike Rowe book. I was having fun too, cranking out stuff crazy fast...then that happened, I lost my ability to watch video, and have been sitting at my desk like an old lady on Block Watch."Was that a virus? OMG."(And I haven't had cent one, nor the chance to test what's on the old thumb drive and make sure it's not trojan-a-riffic.) So it seemed like a super-great compliment, especially since they come from scenes with Allyson and Brian the homicide investigator, which are some of the few points of unqualified pride in that whole manuscript for me personally.
And one of my editors actually wants to be my site supervisor in a way nobody has in ages. I hate it, but I suppose thirty-four years is long enough to go without an obnoxious boss. But I have forgotten all of my high school kiss-ass moves from being allowed to be here and cumudgeon so much.
So I don't have much time for the book anymore, but I still want my gift back.
Also, want to be non-congested and hit the virtual canvass again soon.
